Virtual switch 'distance', missing 'm' and 'km'

Post by jeroenkl »

Hello Domoticz users/developers, @gizmocuz,

Is het somehow possible to change, add extra 'eenheid': m and km to the Virtual Switch 'distance'?
At the moment it is only possible to choose: 'cm' and 'inches'.

I'm using this virtual sensor to show my calculated distance of my car to my home. 'cm' is in this case not handy, better to have 'km'.

If you only use the virtual device for presentation purposes, you can use a text device and display whatever you like,

2019-08-14 16:30 5.3 Km

even possible to show with some history. Something like

2019-08-14 16:30 5.3 Km
2019-08-14 16:25 8.7 Km
2019-08-14 16:20 13.0 Km

or

2019-08-14 16:30 Jeroen 2.8 Km
2019-08-14 14:00 Kees at home
2019-08-14 12:50 Els 2100 km
Debian buster, bullseye on RPI-4, Intel NUC.

Hi @waaren,

I really like to have also a nice device icon and the possibility to use notifications, etc.
Also for domoticz in general, good to have the options 'm', 'km', 'miles' added for multipurpose uses

Hi,

I agree with you that it makes sense that "Distance" can display more units then only cm and inches. It should be possible to configure in addition to cm and inches, also mm, m and km. Also should it be possible to configure feet and miles.

Currently a work around is to select "Custom Sensor" and set the x-axis to the unit, you want. The default icon is the globe, but you can change that, by uploading custom icons. Since a number of beta releases the custom icons are also supported in "Floor plans".

Thanks for the tip. I'm now using the 'custom sensor' work arround.
