cmake version requirement changed?

Is there any specific reason for changing compile requirements to cmake 3.14.0 (on the development branch)? I'm asking because I'm on debian, and even on backports the latest version is 3.13.2 and it's a bit of a hassle to upgrade it manually. And yes, I realise I can run stable instead, so don't take this as any sort of critique
