Zigate and Tradfri 5 button remote in group

Post by waltervl »

Hi,

I have a Tradfri group of 2 bulbs and 1 5-button remote.
If have added those to the Zigate seperately and got the devices in Domoticz (2 Dimmers and a selector switch)
Later I made a group of the devices by the Ikea method of relink of the remote close to the group bulbs.
Then I added the group to ZiGate and now I have an additional Dimmer device for the group. This works fine.

The problem I have is that the 5-button remote is not reacting anymore for the color change (arows left/right). On/Off and light level works fine. I saw a closed issue on github #374 about this and it was advised to do the color change through the selector switch in Domoticz.
But the after pairing the group to Domoticz the Domoticz Selector switch is not usable anymore. There is no reaction anymore from the Domoticz device when pressing any button on the remote. I have deleted it and try to repair but then I get a simple dimmable switch back, no 5-button.

What should be the procedure to add the devices as an Ikea group but also have a functional 5-button selector switch in Domoticz to program the color change? Is this possible at all?
I am in ZiGate plugin beta release from date yesterday evening.

What you need to do is to add the Zigate IEEE to the same group piloted by the remote

You can go to the wiki page , there one section for the ikea remote.

I have taken the point , and will try to provide an integration.

The idea will be :
(1) You will have to create a first group with the Remote and an Ikea Bulb
(2) get the plugin discovering this group
(3) Add the Zigate IEEE and the Remote control IEEE into this group

After that depending on the Bulb. If you have only WW the remote left/right will manage the White Color from Hot to Cold; else if you have at least one RGB you'll get RGB shift from Red to Blue with the Left/Right biutton.

Stay tune

In the meantime I tried the method described here: https://github.com/pipiche38/Domoticz-Z ... -Remote.md
everything works until step 3 of Phase 2: Edit the file Conf/ZigateGroupsConfig-xx.txt
There is no ZigateGroupsConfig-xx.txt file in that folder only the DeviceConf.txt and PluginConf.txt. No new file created in that folder. I also checked the other folders in the plugin but no new files. The file GroupsList-xx.pck is created in Data folder as expected.

Just checked with latest pre-4.1 plugin and beta Domotiz 4.10445

If the file doesn’t exist, you need to create it

After creating the file I see in the log that the remote is added to the group but still no response from the widget if I press a button.

The remote should have been paired with a bulb before. So the remote should command the bulb.

Then in the group created by the remote you need to add the Zigate

@waltervl, I had a look to the all Thread and you had already the remote working. Your comment was Left/Right don't work ?

So I don't really understand where is your problem now ?

Yes, the left/right buttons are not working and you advised to add the remote to the ZiGate group to be able to get the widget of the remote reacting again. So I did that and the result is that the widget in Domoticz is still not showing the state of the remote.

The group of 2 bulbs and 5b-remote is working with the other buttons as before also when the groupsconf-xx file is not present. So the file has no extra use for me.

Re: Zigate and Tradfri 5 button remote in group

Ok, so I think that you will make it, not so far

Code: Select all

90fd9ffffef166a6 - IEEE of remote
d0cf5efffe291ddf - IEEE of RGB Bulb 1
90fd9ffffee58799 - IEEE of RGB Bulb 2
/code]

With ZigateGroupsConfig, Here you are creating a new group with the 2 bulbs and the remote
[code]5e33,ZiGate-Schemerlampen woonkamer,90fd9ffffee58799,d0cf5efffe291ddf,90fd9ffffef166a6
What should be done is,
(1) use the group which has been created after you paired the remote and the bulb. The group is named "Zigate Group 81ba"
(2) Retrieve the IEEE of Zigate. You should find it either in the Log, or in the Zigate Notification text widget (Utility).

Update ZigateGroupsConfig should look like:

Code: Select all

81ba,Zigate Groupe Ikea,d0cf5efffe291ddf, 90fd9ffffef166a6, IEEE of Zigate
After that restart, the plugin. Then when the process is completed you should be able to see the events coming to the Domoticz Tradfri remote widget

Then if you want to get Left/Right controling the color schema of the Bulb, you have to:
(1) switch to 'beta' branch for now
(2) Edit ZigateGroupConfig and add the Remote IEEE

Code: Select all

81ba,Zigate Groupe Ikea,d0cf5efffe291ddf,90fd9ffffee58799, IEEE of Zigate,90fd9ffffef166a6
(3) Restart the plugin
When the process will be completed, then you should be able to control a set of color schema to the group from the remote

Yes, thanks. This is working!
Now struggling to get dzVents doing something with .setRGB and variables in order to loop through RGB colors.
The group is listening to .setRGB(255,0,255) and .setRGB(0,255,0) for left and right button. They change color.
But not when I do it with variables like .setRGB(Red,Green,Blue). It will color set once but not changing after pressing buttons.
It does show different values in domoticz log but the lamps are not changing color. Very strange, going to sleep now :-)

Enjoy. For dzVents I leave others to help you here ...
But if you want to set the Color yourself, you might not have the Remote IEEE in the group as this might be conflicting, no ?

If so just remote the IEEE of remote to be in that situation:

Code: Select all

81ba,Zigate Groupe Ikea,d0cf5efffe291ddf, 90fd9ffffef166a6, IEEE of Zigate
Last , I would really appreciate your feedbacks and even if you can update the method described here: https://github.com/pipiche38/Domoticz-Z ... -Remote.md, because this is probably not user friendly (I'm so deep in the code), that it is hard for me sometime to explain.

WOuld appreciate your help

I just installed the stable plugin 4.1 and noticed the changed behavior of the left/right buttons. Colors are changing now. But what is the logic behind this? Is there a way to configure these colors? Is it a memory of last used colors?

And can I switch this new functionality off and have me program that color switching in Domoticz with events? I just think I have found a way to loop through the colors but cannot test it now. My script gets overruled by the new function....

Yes it should be possible, just remove the remote ieee you have put in ZigateGroupsConfig ...

And if your script works, feel free to share , there is a contrib folder on the GitHub where the wiki is hosted

Hello,
I have the same problem -> dimmer ok but color no change (arows left/right).
My first problem is that the zigate plugin have change. I can't use documentation. I must use Web UI.
I use beta plugin with Domoticz-Zigate-UI. I have found the file ZigateGroupsConfig-02.json . Now it's a json file.

In the json, I have :

{
"28be": {
"Imported": [
[
"ec1bbdfffea25e1d",
"01"
],
[
"00158d00021e13f0",
"01"
]
],
"Name": "myTest",
"Tradfri Remote": {
"Device Addr": "5e37",
"Device Id": "7"
}
}

28be -> Group ID
ec1bbdfffea25e1d -> bulb IEEE ( tradfri )
00158d00021e13f0 -> Zigate
5e37 -> remote controle short ID

With this configuration, I have this error ;
Error: (Zigate) manageIkeaTradfriRemoteLeftRight - undefined Color Mode for None

Could you help me please ?
Linux isn't a problem but I am a beginner with zigate.

Best regards
