Hello devellopers,
I have a question.
I am experimenting with zwave devices in my setup. This means that I am regularly removing and adding devices. My "problem" is that even when I delete the added zwave devices, if I add another device, the number the new device gets is not the next number available but one higher than the last one. This troubles me . Must be my version of ocd.
What can I do to get nice ,each other following, numbers with my zwave devices?
Or can I somehow renumber the devices?
Like to hear tour thoughts on this.
Best regards,
GJ

The only way is to reset controller, lose all devices and restart from scratch. Than a node in the middle gets problems, you reset it and it goes all the way to the end. My nodes start from 7 and goes like 11,12,18,21 and so on. I hate it but this is the design of zwave...

Thanks. I hoped it would be stored in a database that could be managed bij Domoticz.
I will try to resist de-connect, rset and reconnect my devices.

I'm just wondering what happens when you reach node id 255... Will the gaps be filled or do you have a great problem?
I'm at 105 now, so I am still safe for a while, but I can't imagine resetting all of them to start over. Most devices are quite simple but some of them are a real pain to reset. Besides that,in my case I must make sure that all devices get exactly the same name or else the whole programming fails.
