TTGO ESP32 Lora board

Hello, I am afraid this is a very ignorant question, please forgive me.

I have two TTGO lora boards using the 868MHz band. One is sending, the other transmitting, I can see the packets coming in on the OLED display. Naïve as I am I hooked up the receiver to my raspberry with USB and added a RFLink gateway on the USB port. Nothing is coming in.

The sketches I am using on the Lora boards are (for now, testing) extremely simple: send "hello" plus a counter with each packet.

Am I doing something wrong here, assuming that the RFlink gateway simply reads out the serial data coming from the USB port similar to the serial monitor in the Arduino IDE?
