hello

i'm still learning so hopefully you can help me out with this.
Pi with zwave stick.
Now i want to control my light in the house.
If i buy a smart light switch i need to put everywhere a N line to all my switches and lamps.
So i was thinking to buy some smart bulbs on wifi without(or with) wifi controller.
But then i cant use my standard switch no more because if i turn of the switch i cannot control the bulbs anymore.
So then i need to let the switch on all the time and power the bulbs on and off with the dashboard and that is also not a good solution.
I want to control my lights in the house but i also want to put them on and off with a switch

can you understand my problem a little bit :-p
Is there any other way's a can control my lights in the house without a N line?
or do i understand the whole thing wrong here

If you want to control the lights with a switch but also through Wifi you should take a look at:

I have a Sonoff (http://sonoff.itead.cc/en/products/resi ... noff-touch which works (but mine has been changed three times because it died, so no long lifespan).

the Sonoff or other switches was my plan to do but i don't have a N Line.
I only got a life line and switch line the N line goes direct to my lights.

Usually it's not that hard to add the N line. Distances from the switch to the junction box are often quite short and it might only take an evening or Sunday to route those extra wires to every switch you need such a dimmer.
There is almost always someone in your family or circle of friends who can help you with this if you can't so it yourself.

I have all combinations of switches, Hue/wifi lights, external remotes etc but nothing is more convenient than a proper in-wall Z-Wave wall dimmer with normal LED lights in the ceiling.

that was my first thought to and put some extra wire's.
But my N line is connected from my garage to all my lights in the house.
I try to pull out the existing switch line to add some new but i have no clue how the ever wired this house.
But is it possible to extent the N line from my light and return to my switch?
This may maybe work.

It should not be any problem to extend the N line from your light to the switch. If there are only two wires from the switch to the light there should be enough space for an extra wire. Good luck!

just opened all the switches and all the cables are going down and not up.
I hope they are not connected somewhere in the wall.

What happens if you tried a "trekveer"(don't know the English version) from the light to the switch?

Is there any space left from the switches so, once you get a N wire to a switch you can pull it through to the other switches?

And what about your Fusebox, is this also in your garage?

I'm have a few day's off tomorrow and i will investigate the whole thing.
Starting from the fuse box in the garage will be a mess i think.
This is a old house (40y).
I think i will first take my time to look at all the wire's in the switches and looking for the first switch where the N pass through.
He has to start somewhere

Some switches that's works with2 wire and battery powered?

I have Milight Bulbs everywhere in my house. And i use ESP8266 wall switches. Put them all into Domoticz.
Create dzVents Scripts for actions:

Wall Switch turn on > domoticz virtual switch goes on > Domoticz turn on the milight.
etc etc

Full control what you want to do with the switch and bulbs

@poudenes, but you have the N wire with all your switches. Gianni doesn't have this, thas his current (no phun intended) issue.

@Gianni, where does the power enter your house? Is that also in the garage?

But i think i have good news.
just gemeten over the switches and i got everywhere 220v
On problem i think the electrician has used all his left over wire because i can not track witch wire go's to where

If Telenet(my isp) cut of my internet.
As long as my pi run and my zwave is up can i use my switches.
Even if my internel lan work without wan acces y can use my tablet with domoticz correct.
I only need my isp if i want to control from outside my house.

as long as you have your own router that is correct.

If you use Z-Wave the switches will always work on the connected lights even if the home network or Domoticz are down.

Many zwave dimmers can survive without an N wire. How well that works depends on the type of lamp you are using them with because they like to have a small current flow through the load and that can cause e.g. LED lamps to glow a bit.

Best is to pull some extra N’s and do it ‘properly’.

It is a hell of a job but I would suggest to remove all the wires and change them to the correct ones. I had the same in my house (but only in the attic). Every wire was the green/yellow one (protective earth).

lol that's not so bad in my house
I got red,blue,grey,black white
My first thought was to replace every wire but that's a no go.
All the wires going down and not up and if i pull at some they cannot move.
I asked my neighbor a few house's further (we all have the same house) who did that a few years ago.
He ended up to remove everything ,put new tubes's in the wall's and rewired everything in the ceiling because all the cables broke when pulled or there a boxes in the wall hidden

My electricity skills are basic so i wane asked here
In the red square i the place i need to put my sonoff.
So any help how to wire the (wissel) switch to a single switch.

My thoughts are in marked in brown

Any suggestions are welcome.

No i need to buy some sonoff's to test(or if somebody have some seconds hands ))

Damn those misleading colors

So if I am reading this correctly your switch wire is white (I use black). One of the white wires is going to be the L(ive) wire (and connected to the blue wire) and the second one will be switch wire (continuing in Grey). Your neutral line is red, and is this in your wall socket where the sonoff should go?

So the second switch won't be used at all.

Then you are good to go!

In the Netherlands:
Brown is live wire
Blue is the neutral
Black is the switch wire
Green/Yellow is the earth/ground wire
Above does not apply on older homes

But rewiring is indeed no option, to labor intensive and probably to expansive.

hmm have taking al my guts with me an put new wire's in 1 switch.
So far so good but is still missed something.

My setup in a normal situation is like this.

The problem is that they not switch on the Life line but on the Neutral in my situation
So my life line goes to the bulb and my neutral to the switch.
So how do i need to connect the sonoff in this situation?
Do i only need to connect my N to the Sonoff N en just a black 1 in the Lout ?
