irrigation pump

Post by ErikAtSpijk »

Hello,

So fed up of irrigating the garden manually. Does any one has experience with different types of irrigation pumps like the the one below?

https://www.kaercher.com/int/home-garde ... 53620.html

Do these pomp successfully start if the power is switched on of do they cavitate? Do you need to keep removing air to allow it to work? Any protection that prevent tho start if from a fibaro switch?

Thanks,

Erik

According to the manual the set includes a return valve that is supposed to make sure the water stays in the input line. However it also says the pump will be damaged if it runs with no water in it and can not be run unattended. I would personally try and find some other solution.

I've just finished doing the same. I used an old Hozelock garden pump that I already had (3000lph ,3.5Bar). Yes, it cavitates, and I found that it had no non-return valve. But that's all fixed now. I've installed 2000litres of rainwater storage in my basement and use said pump to run 3 toilets, garden sprinkler system, and 2 garden hoses. Provided you don't let the tanks run dry cavitation is not a problem. Adding a non return valve in front of the pump outlet plus an electronic pressure switch makes the whole thing run like a water main outlet. I'm very happy with it. Here's are some links if interested...

Thanks, intresting set up to use pomped water to flush the toilet. Good idea.

I was hoping that a fibaro switch that measures the power consumption would measure hose break and caviation (high and low power), as well as start or stop the pomp based on rain/time.

Guess I need to have a go at it.
