Z-Wave some devices keep timing out

Post by tcviper »

Hello all,

So in my house I have the Aeon Tec Gen 5 stick connected to my Synology (DS1815+) which works fine.
Around the house I have about 19 z-wave devices with a Fibaro Wallplug starting close to the gen 5 stick.
Now I've added another Wallplug close to there as the relay switch that controls my garage door is through two thick walls and sometimes responds and sometimes does not. What is the easiest way to fix a path for this device (i know the control panel showing groups and so on, but i have no clue what to add to what?). Healing the network what does that do? Ive tried it a few times but it doesnt seem to fix the devices.

So, some of the relay switches keep timing out now and i have no idea how to fix them. I thought placing another wallplug close would extend the range but so far it hasnt done much. Any idea? :)

Read both these threads.

The ability to alter the options.xml was integrated into Domoticz recently so you can now tweak the options within the web interface if needed.

If it can be fixed by changing a setting, those threads discuss options, that said the problem could be physical, you may need to add some repeaters.

Eg the Aeotec Range Extender 6

Also make sure you are using the latest beta.

I don't think using the latest beta will fix this particular issue. In fact, it may get worse if you do so... I have been using 39 z-wave devices throughout my house for some months already with little to no problems. The only problems I had was with Fibaro's Double Switch 2 (FGS-223). This is apparently not so much a problem of the device but more of the (missing) support of OpenZWave. I have 2 of these devices and every now and then each of them seemed to miss a switch action (dz thinks the switch is off while it is on or vice versa). At the times this happens often the log shows the message 'timeout for node xx'.

I was running betas (because some of my devices weren't supported by stable) but hadn't installed a new release for some time when the stable release came out. I tried installing the stable release and found that none of my devices were detected any more. So I installed the latest beta at the time and then things started working again. However, after some time I found that more and more devices are giving timeout messages now. Some are close to my domoticz (with razberry 2 shield), others are on the 2nd floor. I don't see a real pattern yet, although not all devices seem to be affected. But a lot more devices than before are giving timeout messages now. I've built my own domoticz from latest sources now and am planning on experimenting, but haven't come to actually activating it yet. So I can't say anything definite yet, but my point is: z-wave support seems to have de-stabilized in latest (beta) releases instead of getting better.

Click on the Z-Wave controller device, I'm running 4.9766 and it shows up fine.

If anything Z-Wave should be better in the latest beta (Z-Wave should come online faster after starting Domoticz) and there should generally be LESS delays compared to before the Github change.
