Best practice Razberry on RPi

Post by DadOfZelda »

Hi,

My first post here, and YES I'm a newbie in this :-).

Today I have a little setup with Domoticz a Rpi3 and RFXcom. With this setup, I monitor 8 temp/hygrometer and have 10 on/off switches all 433MHz. Mostly Nexa and Telldus. On the LAN there is a Telldus Net also.

I think of taking the next step in evolution and go for Z-Wave, mostly to get energy metering but also for the "feedback" from gears that I don't get today.

I have looked into buying a Razberry card, maybe not the best solution for a newbie controller, but relatively cheap. I keen to get other solutions from you! :-)

Well now to my question, what is the best practice when installing a Razberry, pros and cons for these alternatives?

1. Install it on the same RPi as I have Domoticz running on and RFXcom connected to.
2. Install it on another RPI (that I have as a spare) and connect to it via LAN? Somehow I like this thing of having one dedicated hw for each purpose. I have another RPi with Meteohub running for my Davis weather station. (Will get to this in another thread ;-)

Kind Regards
/Christian

OK, and that one you put in same RPi as you have Domoticz installed? Does Domoticz recognize zwaveUSB stick as RFXcom "plug and play"? :-)
