Smart Meter Integration

Post by markk »

Hi. I’ve been trying to get a smart meter fitted for some time now with the intention of collecting the data with Domoticz. However, it was installed yesterday and I was disappointed to find the one I have, a Secure Liberty 100, doesn’t have a cable port so I cant connect a P1. From the documentation it looks like it is compatible with Zigbee so I’m wondering if this is the road to go down but that may be beyond my limited technical capabilities. Does anyone have any experience of collection data from this meter or able to point me in the right direction please?

The spec sheet for your smart meter says that GPRS and zigbee are options, not necessarily standard. It lists an 'Optical IEC62056-21 (IEC1107) hardware-compatible port' as standard. Google what options exist to read that out.

probably the optical port would pulse on consumption...
try to see it through a video camera and see if you see any light

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I used to use the optical on my old electric meter with mysensors to grab energy use. Never been able to do that with my old gas meter though. I'll need to check to see if the new one has optical IEC1107 and, if so, possibly go along the mysensors route with this. It's a Secure Liberty eg4v11 which has only just been released. I can only find info on the eg4v10 which does have one. Hopefully this will be the same.Thank you.

Yes, I can see there is an optical link on the Liberty 100 electric meter. Unfortunately, I can’t see that there is one on the Secure Liberty eg4v11 gas meter :(
