ISKRA AM550 P1 port stopped sending data (solved)

Post by TjardE »

Hello,

Yesterday I saw in Domoticz that the P1 port of the ISKRA AM550 smart meter was not sending data anymore.
I had this before and had the smart meter replaced by the company.

Now it was after another 5 months (the previous one lasted 7 months) so this got me thinking.

Thinking about another meter replacement and all the hassle that comes with planning and administration made me kind of "give up".

One last resort was resetting the smart meter. Switched off all groups and the master group that is before the meter.
It kind of "reset" when I switched everything on and wow... The meter was sending data again!!

So, if you experience the smart meter stopping sending data. Reset it.

Richard.

Hi TjardE,

I have also the problem that there are no 'telegrams' from my Iskra MA550...

I bought a P1 to USB FTDI cable (with a pull up resistor between +5V and RX intern on the PCB).

When connected to my Pi and giving the command: cu -l /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200 --parity=none
I get only 'Conected', but after 10 seconds or longer there is no response from P1

On my Mac, opening a terminal session and type: screen /dev/tty.usbserial-A9315SPW 115200
the result is the same.

But... when I pulled out the RJ connector from the meter, I get one or two strange character as output.
With that, I can say that the communication between my Pi (or Mac) and the cable is good.
And also, there is a way of communication over the RJ connector, so that unplug it will result in some reaction.

The big question for now is, is my Iskra MA550 P1 port broken or is my cable broken...

You said something about resetting the meter, but I can't find anywhere how to do that.
Can you tell me the trick?

Hi Ruud. It seems if you have bad cdma network the metet stops sending looks like buffer full. I had mine be replaced by an older type that does 2g gsm or so.
The Reset I did by switching off mainpower before the meter. But as I understand this is not always possible.

Hi TjardE,

Thank you for the fast response!

My master fuses are not reachable, because the box is closed with a seale...

My last try is to find someone nearby to connect my cable to that meter and looks wat happens.
So I can eliminate if the problem is in the cable or the meter.

Don't know where you live but yes, thats what I tried with a colleague to rule out errors on my side first.
