Hi there,
for years I've been using CT-sensor (a clamp over each phase coming from the main switch) based consumption meter, CurrentCost EnviR, but since installing a PV-system it does not give a reliable reading anymore (if export is higher than consumption, it gives the export). CurrentCost support confirmed there is not much I can do about it, that is the way it works.
I have Domoticz with z-wave and 433Mhz (RFLink) capability, but the problem is that the electricity meter is outside, quite far away from the house and inside a metal box (ok, maybe I could wire it from inside to a plastic junction box which would improve the range a bit) and so far only wifi seems to reach into the meter housing. So I was primarily thinking about replacing the EnviR with some led pulse counting wifi-based solution. Any suggestions on what would be the easiest option to setup? Would something like this be an option for example:

https://learn.openenergymonitor.org/ele ... se-counter
Do you know if this kind of products are available as ready made somewhere? I have some soldering experience, but prefer not to do anything too accurate. Connecting with jumpers is of course ok if there's a header available for that.
Is there anyone who would be in a similar situation and has found a good way to setup a wifi-based led pulse counter for electricity monitoring? Or are there perhaps some other alternatives I might have overlooked?
Easiest way to setup (wifi-based?) power / energy usage monitoring from a led pulse?

Thanks for the suggestion, very interesting. The problem with this one - if I understand it right - is that is it a CT-based option as well. I was now primarily looking for something to hook up directly to the led pulse of my electricity meter.tontze wrote: ↑Thursday 03 May 2018 10:47 Pzem could be a way to go. http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20820
With the current setup, three CTs one around each phase, it looks like it is not possible to measure the consumption (which is what what I'm after). In this setup, if solar output is over twice the consumption - which means that export > consumption - the CTs seem to report the export and not the consumption. From the solar inverter I can get real time solar generation but I cannot be sure at any given time when solar generation > 2 x base consumption whether the CTs are measuring export or consumption...

Thanks for the suggestion. However, this looked like a strange setup requiring a receiver to be hooked up to a computer so it does not sound like a genuine z-wave solution in which I could utilise the existing z-wave controller.alexsh1 wrote: ↑Saturday 05 May 2018 10:36 Z-wave device (pulse)

Also, after looking into the meter specifications, it looks like I'm out of luck. It will flash the led even when exporting power so it would not solve the underlying problem. I guess I would need something like this: http://www.pluginsolar.co.uk/?product=o ... gy-monitor. Or a meter that can sense the "direction"...

In this case, have a look here - https://openenergymonitor.org/Nautilus wrote: ↑Sunday 06 May 2018 23:03Thanks for the suggestion. I have built my pulse meter based on MySensors - fully DIY option, but I have used the web-site above for some tips.
They have a forum as well and you may want to ask them too as your setup is advanced.

Interesting, have to take a closer look. I guess what I'm looking after is a bidirectional power/energy meter for a 3-phase setup that can be read real-time via api. What I didn't immediately see was if there was this kind of option available in open energy monitor. However I found out a z-wave alternative, Aeotec Home Energy Monitor Gen5, which supposedly is bidirectional and there is a 3-phase option available: https://www.vesternet.com/z-wave-plus-a ... lamps-100aalexsh1 wrote: ↑Monday 07 May 2018 16:58 In this case, have a look here - https://openenergymonitor.org/

I just have to wonder why on earth it is designed like the way it is that you need to wire three power inputs to a circuit breaker. Would make much more sense to have a normal plug there which would make the installation much easier. Or perhaps there is some function there for reading the power correctly...
