Protect devices and switches securely

Post by Sushukka »

Hello,
First: Domoticz rules. Soon can celebrate the 100th sensor/switch/device at my home. :)

One serious suggestion though. I have been building a fingerprint lock to our main entrance and of course the most important part is to secure the switch as good as possible. Problem is that there are small possibility that someone in the surrounding neighbourhood could hack through the wifi and open the door. Simplest way to still have the lock switch in Domoticz would be to protect the switch but there are now two problems:
  • If using the protect checkbox in the switch options, it can just be untagged as easily -> could be better to have a password prompt when untagging it
  • Also when changing passwords in the settings page it would be better to ask the old password before allowing to change it.
In the case you have forgotten the password, it could be changed by accessing the hardware (CLI, configuration files...) running Domoticz where user could have eg. Linux protection to keep care of that matter.
