NeoCoolCam Motion , PIR Sensor questions

Post by lumjajo »

Hi Guys,
does anyone use the NeoCoolcam PIR sensor? I have it inculded, but it only shows 4 switches, 2 Motion alarm, one Motion Sensor and a Burglar switch.
It should show a Lux meter as well. Thi sbrings me to my second question.
Configuration of a battery powered device is really difficult. How do you handle this, In this case, I cannot update the configuration no matter how often I am pushing the "upload " button.
Thanks and have a happy 2018

I wrote this, updated my device list and the Lux Meter can be seen. However, update of the configuration is still not possible.

Press the button inside once, this will wake up the device. Then send!

You indeed to push the button inside the PIR and then submit the changes.
Sometime you need to repeat this several times before it is accepted.

Does somebody know how you can get an frequently updated lux measurement to domoticz ?

I have 6 of them and on each of them i get 7 devices:

Alarm Type
Alarm level
Pir sensor
Burglar
Alarm type: burglar
LUX
Temperature

To update configuration first make changes save and then push the button once on motion sensor. The stored configuration the pushes to sensor.

To change lux update time i have changed settings
7. Light sensor polling interval to 180 sec.
And
9. Ambient illumination Lux level report from 100 to 2.
This working fine for me and i get in 3 minutes update if lights changed.

Hi and thanks for the information.
I will test it.
What surprises me is, that you have temperature. I would need this , but I did not get the switch. It slao not in the documentation as far as I see. But they do not have so many different PIR sensors as far as I know.
Anyway, lets see.

Ha after a hard reset I never received the lux meter back again on any of my motion sensors from NEO.
It's a pitty as it should work and did work on 2 of them at least.
However removing and re-adding them to the network does not give me back my lux meters.
Even after a hard reset.

From what i know in first version there was no temperature sensor. Recent version has it on board.

Did you try hard reset pir sensor by pushing the button for 20 sec? And remove all associated devices from domoticz device tab and then include it again.
I have more than 20 coolcam devices and all works fine.

A yes, that 20 seconds got me into this situation ;-) after the hard reset they (lux) did not show up, only motion.

Hi guys,
I have a gen5 aeon labs z-wave stick and also bought this pir sensor. I have read that when you add it via button on the usb stick they not always get discovered well, so i've added it via Domoticz (few times excluded and included, also reset the usb stick as well as the pir) and I always and i mean always get:

Lux sensor in Utility tab

and in the switches tab i get:
Alarm Type
Alarm Level
Sensor
Sensor
Alarm Type Burglar (0x07)

All apear as on/off switches ... on some of them i can see on / off time when open Log.

There is no motion sensor.

Any Idea how to properly include this and have the full functionality?

This is how all motion sensors work at least for me. When first created, the sensor shows as on/off switch. Then you just change the type to a motion sensor. The documentation should tell you what all the different devices are for but usually it is one (or two) of them that follows the motion triggers so just choose that, change the type, and be happy...:) Unless you really need to find out how utilise the others as well.

All devices IDs are in the hexadecimal form XXYY, with XX=node ID in hardware tab under z-wave controller items. YY is the sub-ID of switches/temp sensors etc belonging to device XX.

When not sure, just classify all known devices per last update, trigger the device (move in front for a PIR...) & refresh: You should find the right subdevice ID in the very first lines.

A good tip but in my reply I referred to documentation if you need to understand the purpose of the other switches created. It should be quite easy to identify the one (or two) which follows motion triggers. But then which one is a tamper sensor etc. is maybe not that clear.

Hi,

I have bought a couple of NEO Coolcam's lately. When i added them to domoticz it received lux value, but soon it was showing that sensor as dead, or atleast it didnt receive anymore updates. I replaced the battery and it received a couple of lux updates, however, it does not anymore.

Does anyone know what i can do to keep the neo coolcam to send lux updates to domoticz?

Should be a device parameter setup stuff: Send updates every YY seconds or if lux vary more than XX percent... Just take care to wake-up device (pressing internal switch also used for association, usually 1 time) for changes to be effective immediately for such battery operated device.

Just started with Domoticz and ordered some NEO COOLCAM z wave items for learning, My NEO COOLCAM Z-wave PIR Motion Sensor Detector from Gearbest doesn't show a temperature device. How can I check if it has a temperature sensor or did I do something wrong? I just ordered it a couple of weeks ago.
