Sensus HRI Pulse sensor

Post by Timeless »

Hi,

I'm currently wireing up all my meter (Electric, Gas, Water) to domoticz.

- Electric: Youless
- Gas: Reed Switch (Normally Open) & S0PCM-5 (Pulse counter)
- Water: ...(Sensus HRI pulse sensor?) (on Sensus 620 water meter)

So... I'm unsure if the Sensus HRI is the right choice? I saw that HomeWizzard & iungo are supporting this sensor. And If I read the datasheet (link) it seems to be a Open/Close switch on each pulse.

Will this work on a S0PCM-5 pulse counter? Just like a reed switch does?

Regards,
Timeless

Just to answer my own question:

Yes it does, and works perfectly.
So problem solved :)

Hi Timeless,

I also like to connect my water meter. Could you explain how you accomplished that?

Sure.

I've got the Sensus HRI pulse sensor from: HomeWizard and attached it to one of the pulse inputs of the S0 Pulse Counter Module No direct link, but search for: S0 Pulse Counter Module

S0 Pulse Counter module is already supported by Domoticz, so it could be added without much hazzle.

I had to tweak the values a bit:
On the S0 Meter USB the counter which is attached to the Sensus HRI should be set to 1000.
And in Setup --> Meters/Counters, The water should also be set to 1000.
Those values are not logical for me, but it was the only way to count the correct amount of liters.

There is a battery in the Sensus HRI pulse unit, which should last for atleast 10 Years. Which is probably enough for the lifespan of the Sensus Water counter. But I attached 5v to the HRI unit just in case. See manual or manual2 for the correct wire, which in my case was the Green wire (DATA) with a Min 5V/ Max 24v.

Hi,

Sorry for getting back to this old post, but “without much hassle” triggered me, since I have the same setup (HRI Pulse sensor A4 model through HomeWizard, S0PCM en Domoticz v3.8153. I have added the S0PCM in the hardware section being attach to ttyACM0. So far so good.

I have wired the HRI pulse sensor to the S0PCM using the white cable to S0PCM register 1 and the brown cable to common ground (register G). The yellow cable is left unused and not attached at all (is that correct?).

Now, the problem is: I do not get a device showing up in Domoticz. The log is telling me only that the S0PCM seems to be around, bit that’s it. What is it I am doing wrong here?

BTW: I had/have had the water flowing to activate the S0PCM. To no avail.

Any help or pointer to tutorial/example is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

Michel.

Sorry for the late reply but do you have "Accept new sensors" enabled in the settings menu? This is something people often forget and therefor new sensors are not added.

Hi Timeless,

And, clearly, I am one of those people. How stupid have I been and how grateful I am for your reply.

I thought that checkbox was still checked...but is was no longer. Now it is again and the new device was added within seconds.

Thx man!!

Michel.

Hi

Also sorry for getting back to this old post. I'm just curious what you mean with setting the counter on the S0 Meter.

Do you mean the T1/T2/T3/T4/T5 commands? (as in S0 USB meter manual), if so, i would guess T1=1000 if my pulse counter is attached to register #1, is that right?)

Sorry, I think my explanation was a little short there. What I ment was:
goto -- > Hardware --> S0 Meter USB --> Modes setup --> set the appropriate input to 1000

It could be that it's not actually called "modes setup" but I've set Domoticz to my own language so I had to translate is back to english :)

Thanks for the swift response :D

Now i'm an happy S0 + sensus HRI user too.

Sorry to revive this topic!
But how did you hook this up to a power source?

Funny thing for me is that I have the same sensor and the value 1000 is totally wrong for me. It stats a shower of about 15 -20 minutes is was about 540 liters of water

I googled the number of liters which is average and it says for 7 minutes its about 60 liters. which basically means according to my meter 1 was under the shower for approx. 1 hour.

Have put the value to 100 to test if its working correctly now.

Weird question perhaps, but since a year or so I am playing around with Home Automation.
I have to say I do not like it so far.

Does any of you tried to setup the Sensus HRI pulse counter in Home Automation perhaps?

Oke, I decided not to move to HASSIO. To much hassle.

I am still making my Sensus HRI to give me the proper values;
So here is my setup:
I created a S0 USB meter in the Hardware section
Hardware1.jpg
Hardware1.jpg (104.49 KiB) Viewed 1925 times
with the following config (It reads out my Sensus HRI via USB to my raspberry pi (where domoticz is running)
Hardware2.jpg
Hardware2.jpg (46.55 KiB) Viewed 1925 times
Utility_widget_settings.jpg
Utility_widget_settings.jpg (59.33 KiB) Viewed 1925 times
The problem that I have is that I want to have an incremental counter.

I want to show it in my grafana dashboard.

Can someone help me. Now my dashboard is just adding up the amount of liters, but I want to see how much water I use when I take a shower or if the washingmachine is turned on.

so in my grafana dashboard I used these settings
grafana.jpg
grafana.jpg (43.18 KiB) Viewed 1923 times
grafana2.jpg
grafana2.jpg (55.01 KiB) Viewed 1923 times
from what I have been reading on this forum, there should be a way to have an incremental counter, but that simply does not show up in my S0 USB Meter hardware.

I am lost

The S0 counter value is always incremental and that should be OK
So in Domoticz the graph should look OK, at least in my setup I see the water usage (in Liters) per hour

That counter value you can publish to Grafana, and with the right setup you can also display this per hour, or if you want per 5 minutes, but thats not related to domoticz
As long as if you have a continues counter that increases
