Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Hi everyone,
I just received my Sonoff RF (https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-rf.html) and I am trying to get it to work, but I am failing miserably
Just to make sure: this is about the Sonoff RF version, not the regular Switch. My assumption is that because this Sonoff support 433mhz and PT2262 and Lighting4 it is not needed to flash the Sonoff RF: Is this correct?
I have the following setup: Raspberry Pi 3, running Domoticz V3.8153 and of course a working Rfxcom (the 433E). I am already using it with several PIR detectors and KAKU devices. However I can't get it to work with the Sonoff RF. I am hoping you can help.
The Sonoff is added to my wifi network with the EWelink app and it is working through the app. So at least the Sonoff works. My next step was to add it to Domoticz. I went into the Switches tab and clicked 'Learn light/switch'. Domoticz goes into learning mode and I try all sort of things but nothing happens. I push the button on the Sonoff, I hold it for 5-10 seconds, I switch the Sonoff on/off via the app. Nothing.
Then I tried to add it manually, but I have simply no idea what to choose in the options. Can you help me figure out what I need to do?
In Domoticz > Setup > Hardware I made sure the RFXcom accepts Lighting4.
All the help is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Hi Eligos, thanks. Does this require to flash the Sonoff?

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Is this a Sonoff 4CH Pro?
The buttons on the Sonoff 4CH Pro do not transmit 433MHz RF signals.
You will need the Sonoff remote for this. See also chapter 14.5 in the RFXtrx User Guide.

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Hi B,
No it's the Sonoff RF https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-rf.html. Maybe it's new? Or I am confused?
It's like the switch but can be controlled with 433 rf signals. Please see the manual by RFX on page 44 http://www.rfxcom.com/WebRoot/StoreNL2/ ... _Guide.pdf
It looks like it should be possible without flashing the Sonoff RF? Thanks!

I am sorry, I did not see you pointed to the exact same chapter... So are you saying that for Sonoff RF I probably need the remote as well?

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
You can pair a Lighting4 device with this Sonoff.
The drawback is that thi device only has a toggle and no On/Off command.
https://www.itead.cc/wiki/Sonoff_RF
You can test this also with RFXmngr, use a pulse time of 370usec and ID = D216B1

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
What do you mean with "You can pair a Lighting4 device with this Sonoff"? Do you simply mean it is possible to control the Sonoff RF with Domoticz (via the RFXcom?)
At the moment I am unable to use the RFXmngr (I am on a MAC). Do I really need it, or is it just for testing?
How would you recommend adding the Sonoff RF to Domoticz? Should I use a (Sonoff) remote? Or can I add it manually as a switch? (all these questions )
Thanks for helping me out!

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
It seems you need a Sonoff remote to create the device in Domoticz.

Hi GCB2016,
Is this the remote you are getting?
https://www.itead.cc/smart-home/wireles ... oller.html
Have you got it yet, and if so how is it going for you?
EDIT - Also the "RF" module seems to have disappeared from the website.

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Hi, yes that's the remote I bought. I still don't have it though (Aliexpress ).
I think this is the RF version I ordered which seems available: https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-rf.html. Note I did not buy it directly from itead, but from Aliexpress.
When I receive the remote I'll report back.

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
With Xmas and all that I'm not surprised it's still not arrived. I ordered a new Orange Pi for Domoticz in early Nov and still haven't got it yet.
Yes sorry it is still available, I was just blind!
Can I have the Ali link please for price comparison? Is it an official store?

Sure:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Itead-S ... 51308.html
It says it is sold by the SONOFF official store, but you never know if that's true haha

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Many thanks. I'm going to order one to play with.
I hope one day we can use the wifi ones in Domoticz without having to faff around.

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Hi everyone, as promised -> an update:
I have received the remote and have some good news, but also some questions. Hope we can help each other out
First of all, the remote comes without a battery. So you have to buy a 12V a27 (or MN27) battery (about 2-3€). You also need a small screwdriver so you can take off the back of the remote.
Then I successfully paired the remote with the Sonoff RF via the following manual/wiki: https://www.itead.cc/wiki/Sonoff_RF#433MHz_RF_Remote. I used the A-button which I can now use to turn on the light on and off.
Now comes the more tricky part: adding the Sonoff RF to Domoticz. And this is also where I need a bit of help.
In the Switches-tab I clicked on Learn light/switch and it recognised the signal after clicking the A-button and I could name the device and choose the On/Off function. HOWEVER: when clicking the new switch in Domoticz is does not turn on/off. Nothing happens. It does say Switch turned "On". But nothing happens. I see the action is logged.
I tried adding the button Manually but could not figure out how to do it.
I also tried editing the switch by adding some json in both the On and Off Action. For example: http://<ip>:<port>/json.htm?type=command¶m=switchlight&idx=<ID>&switchcmd=Off
I deleted the switches so I could try again. BUT now I have a new problem: the signal is no longer recognised when I try to Learn light/switch. The remote is still working, but how can I add it to Domoticz? And more importantly: how can I make Domoticz actually turn On/Off the lights
Thanks a lot!

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
You go to Setup -> Devices first where you will see a log of actions.
You will see some entries with the hardware RFXCOM. Even if a device has not been set up it will still be shown on the list, with the name Unknown. There is a green arrow to add the Unknown device to Domoticz and give it a name.
So in short,
1. Press the button on the RF remote
2. Go to the Devices screen
3. Click on the green arrow on the top entry
4. Test and see if it works

Re: Sonoff RF & Rfxcom
Hi wywywywy, thanks. Unfortunately this does not work. I tried this (and other methods) to add the switch to Domoticz. Adding is not the problem. I see the switch, but when clicking on it the light does not turn on/off. Any ideas?
