These Aliexpress work

Post by Westcott »

I got some new sensors from Aliexpress.
They worked 'straight out of the packet', are complete with batteries, send On and Off, and came in 9 days.

Great to know.
I am new to Domoticz and this kind of information is very useful.

I guess that no matter how "plug & play" the devices are you need a receiver to collect data.
Can you write a few more lines on what other devices you use to make your system work?

Thanks!

Stuntteam, will do!!!
... both links.

Quick question on the guide:
Can the Raspberry Pi be replaced with a Synology? I have a Raspberry Pi but have actually installed Domoticz on my Synology DS215j.. so would the Arduino Mega run on the Synology making Step 5 look like this:
"Connect the Arduino with a USB cable to the Raspberry Pi Synology"

Found the answer: Synology: What do I need to use RFlink on a Synology NAS?

Dank je!
:-)

Hi Derik,

Thanks for the warning!
These are 433MHz devices - what is the possible problem?
My forum search did not find anything.
Zwave - Sigma Z+ stick, Fibaro, Horstmann, Neo Coolcam, EUROtronic
RFlink - IR detectors and temperatures
Wifi - YeeLights, ESP32s, Anoop sockets
Zigbee - lots with zigbee2mqtt and ZbBridge

When movement is detected, the PIR obviously has to send a message via 433mhz.
In general, devices repeat the transmission a number of times to increase chances that the message was received.
Not just PIR's work this way and this behaviour is more or less normal.
However, some PIR's send this message hundreds of times for like 5 seconds blocking all other traffic.
This can be a problem, for sure when the PIR is observing an area where there is a lot of movement.
Keep in mind that when a PIR sends a movement message for a few seconds, you can not send a "LAMP ON" command at the same time. You need to wait until the PIR is done transmitting.
However, use it with care and you should be fine.

I agree with the warning in terms of taking care to avoid overloading the 433mhz frequency.
Killing the network goes a bit far..
About Xiaomi..the backdoors in Xiaomi routers are disturbing.. who knows what they put in their gateways.. ;)

Hi guys, I know it is not the right subforum, but do you have any idea if these work with RFXcom? I ordered 2 door sensors and RFXcom identifies them in Domoticz (learn light/switch) as Type=Security. The switch appears, but when I move the magnetic part the blue LED in the sensor flashes but the status is not updated in Domoticz. Any ideas?

Just ordered them, and now I see it is for RFLink and not RFX.com. Going to cancel them.
