Hello,

That new theme everybody got so exited about looks really bad to me... There's nothing modern, it could be a website done 15 years ago.

When I look at the other solutions like Home Assistant or OpenHAB, it feels up to date, nice and clean :
https://home-assistant.io/demo/
http://demo.openhab.org:8080/basicui/app

Domoticz is the brain of the house, it can control everything and we should be proud to show it somewhere on a tablet like a Nest thermostat.

When I saw that new default theme sneak preview topic I was so impatient to see what kind of stuff you worked on, I thought it would be amazing ! But I'm a bit disappointed to be honest :)

I spent 2 hours creating a theme for my Domoticz, and I still find it better than the new default theme you created...

And I find your theme looks really bad and looks like it could be a website done 15 years ago. But that's the nicest thing on open source, if you don't like it and think you could do better, you can!
Most important thing is that the main goal of the recent changes to the themes is that it can be changed more easier. So also this changes does help you.

@roblom I don't know if you're involved in that theme or something, but your reply is just a troll. I would love to have your argumentation about material design guidelines being 15yo :)

There is no hard feelings in my previous post, I'm just saying that most of people choose something by the look of it, and if you're gonna change the look of Domoticz you should do it with that goal.

I'm aware that I can change change the theme if I want, that's not the point.

I'm not trolling and not involved. I see design as an opinion. I'm not sure but I don't think the redesign has as main goal to create a design that everybody likes. The main goal is first to make it easier to change.
So I don't think it adds something by saying that it looks really bad. But contact gizmocuz and see if you could help.

100% right, I also think that this new default theme is way better than pouniok's one. But everyone expecting something else and it's good we have a choice, or we can do something we like, not like HomeAssistant or OpenHAB.
BTW... HA or OpenHAB's UI looks for me rather poor than modern.

Hi ,

Not sure if this issue has to be posted here or in the "myDomoticz" thread .

I have noticed that the new default theme is displayed correcly when the Firefox client is connected locally but not when connected using my.domoticz , as per screenshot below.

Is it a known issue ?

Why merged items are possible only on utilities? Have widget with all sensor in one room would be very good.

@gerardosamara: that sounds like a caching problem to me, where the one domain still has caching data. You really have go deep into the settings of the browser and delete all the "app cache".

@codesnipper - The merging being only in utilities is because that was the first place I tested it in. Adding it to all parts is easy to do, it will just take some time. It will however be a lot more work to merge items that are part of different sections. It's not in my plans.

For now I will not make any such changes because currently Gizmocus is slowly adding the new theme to the beta. He is doing it with a lot of care, bit by bit. That's why the theme in the beta version may not yet look like the images in this thread yet. It will take a little time.

About the other design: great work! Please also add it as a theme to Domoticz! It took a lot of work to not only make Domoticz easier to theme, but also to allow older themes to work (which your theme seems to take advantage of).

Hi blauwebuis, is it possible to copy only the WWW map of the beta zip, and put this in the latest Stable of Domoticz? or will this destroy my stable domoticz?
This seems no problem to me, because is only see some pictures and .css files in the files. right?

very good job. Cool to see that it will be more easy to customize.

regarding the question about design, modern...those website a very static. If you want to have VERY modern we should be able to integrate some movement, gif or angular animation. However this deisgn is a VERY good start ! If some people wnat to change icon to make animation or Logo or some improvement...feel free to do it and share.

best regards

Hi @blauwebuis
I really like this Web UI. As the beta has created new features, the web ui is no more in sync with the application.

Did you plan to update the webui branch in the future ?
Best regards,
U.

@tlpeter: Gizmocus has changed how the selectors work a bit. I won't be able to really make any changes until he is done integrating everything. He says he's still working on that.

@Luigi87: Yes, in fact you should only copy the WWW folder form that zip. But ultratoto14 just posted that they are no longer in sync enough.. so we'll have to wair for the complete integration to be done.

@bueno79: The new design already has some animations. This is possible because I created it so that the CSS for items will change if they are 'on' or 'off'. So you can change the design of elements completely to your liking depending if a switch is on or off, including animations.

@ultratoto14: thanks you for letting us know. I was worried that might happen.

We really have to patiently wait now for Gizmocus to do the integration, it's our of my hands.

Imho, being able to merge from different sections should be standard. Heck, having a new default section to automatically show all merged devices should be standard.

The Switches/Temp/Weather/Utilities split is something that still doesn't make sense to me. If I have a multi-sensor, it should be able to have all its devices shown together in one tidy block on one page. Door switch with temp? It should be able to be shown as one as well.

@godomogo: we all know and understand this already. But building it has been difficult/not a priority. Please be happy that I was able to 'hack' this into Domoticz via the Javascript layer.

I am grateful of all you and others have done and are still doing to improve and add to Domoticz.
