Remote too far from ZWave primary controller ?

Hi.

I encounter a problem that may be conceptual.
I have 4 "minimotes" (Aeotec DSA03) using ZWave protocol. One of them is working correctly, configured as a secondary controller able to run scenes.

I've tried to setup 2 other remotes, using the same configuration, but they don't work... I should be more precise : they don't work in the rooms that they're setup for...
From what I understand, they work when they are able to join directly the primary controller for my network.

I thought the remote would be able to use the repeaters present in my home.

Did I miss something ? Is the remote only able to communicate with the primary controller ? Do I need some additional config to be able to use repeaters ?

FYI,

I contacted Aeotec support.
They confirmed the "minimotes" can only dialog with the primary controller directly.
