Change data label for a device

Post by skalman77 »

Hi,

i have my alarm status in Domoticz and retreive it via Fibaro universal binary sensor. I would like to change the label of the status. I couldn't find any other choise than to choose "Contact" as devicetyp. And the default label for that kind of device is "Open" or "Closed". And i would like to change that to "activated" and "de-activated".

I have looked thru the database with SQLiteStudio and hoped that the differens labels where defined in the database, but it didn't seems like that was the case.

So does anyone know if and how i can change the label / output. See attached image - I have marked the text i would like to change.

Switch status (= label) is fixed by device type. Why not change it to "On/Off" switch and call it "Alarm"? Then you have either Alarm on or Alarm off :) For on/off switch you can use a custom icon, there are several available by default or you can use the icon loader and create your own.

Thanks. The thing is that i don't want a switch. Because the status is controlled by the alarm / fibaro sensor. So setting it as switch would make it switchable. The sensor type doesn't have a switch that can be toggled.

I appreciate the help, and i have tried all possible device types. But what i am trying to find is a way to set whatever label i want for a devicetype. Maybe it isn't possible. But then it would be a great thing to implement. Becuase i don't beleive i am the only one who would like to change the status label för devicetypes.

Yes, this is what we tried to explain and then even offer some workarounds...:D I believe this change, as useful as it would be, would require quite a lot of refactoring the code and therefore I doubt there are many who could take on such a task and most probably they are working with other stuff that is seen more important at the moment.

Just don't use it manually :) You can even set it as protected so that you don't accidentally click it. I'm using a few of these with my security setup. I think I've never even tried to switch them by accident and even if I had, no harm would've come as they are protected... :)
