Fibaro FGS-213 recognized as dimmer instead of switch

Post by SVdHeyden »

Hi,

I don(t know if this is already discussed as the search functionality on the forum doesn't allow to use the device code only in the search function (getting the message that 'FGS-213' is to general and excluded from the search keywords)

Nevertheless, I've just switched my domotica system from DomotiGa towards Domoticz for the simple reason that I wasn't able to install the last version of Gambas (compiling from sources on a Cubietruck SOC hardware)

I'm running Linux Jessie, on a Cubietruck board with a Z-Wave Aeotec USB Adapter with battery Gen5. Everything is working fine except for the FGS-213 devices. Those are recognized as a dimmer device while it is a simple switch with power measurement capabilities.
>This is rather a big problem as I have different devices of this type in my system.

How can this be solved.

Please let me know if special logs or other tests are needed.

Thanks

Check your ID and TYPE
under Setup -> Hardware -> OpenZwave USB setup
Must be one of these:

Code: Select all

		<Product type="0400" id="0104" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
		<Product type="0400" id="0105" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
		<Product type="0400" id="0106" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
		<Product type="0400" id="0107" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
		<Product type="0400" id="0108" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
		<Product type="0400" id="0109" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
		<Product type="0400" id="100a" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
<Product type="0400" id="400a" name="FGS211 Switch 3kW" config="fibaro/fgs211.xml" />
according to:
https://github.com/domoticz/domoticz/bl ... ecific.xml

1)
Check your Config/manufacturer_specific.xml for this section.
Make sure you have the Config/fibaro/fgs211.xml file (you don't mention your Domoticz version)

2)
If ID/TYPE is not correct, and 1) is corrrect, remove the particular Fibaro node's from your Config/zwcfg_0x.......xml cache file:
- Dis-able your Z-Wave controller
- edit the zwcfg_0x.......xml cache file
- remove the concerned node section(s)
- Enable your Z-Wave controller
Domoticz will fill the cache file with fresh info for that node.
Check the ID and TYPE again.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

In fact the problem is not the FGS211 but the FGS213. I have the file Config/fibaro/fgs213.xml. Domoticz version is version 3.5877

In the Zwave setup the following is found concerning the FGS213

Code: Select all

node id Name Description Manufacture id Type Last seen polling
021 (0x15)	Unknown	FIBARO System FGS213 Switch	FIBARO System	0x1000	0x0403	2017-01-23 19:36:16	No
In attach the zwave cache file can be found.

According to me everthing is recognised well however I can't control the FGS213 switch.. When I change the status of the FGS213 with the with the connected switch the status is updated in web page but when I change the status in the web page nothing happens.

The followin appear in the status log:

Code: Select all

2017-01-23 20:24:13.441 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/Off)
2017-01-23 20:24:30.126 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/On)
When I change the switch connected to the FGS213 nothing appear in the status log however the status of the FGS213 is updated on the web page.

Any advice...?

Thanks

Sorry, fgs211 my mistake.

Just a long shot ...
- does it need secure inclusion ? Did you do that?
Even a longer shot ..
How does the Groups and Network overview look like?
- you could try to add 1 or 1.1 (the controller) to Group 2 for S1 and 1 or 1.1 to Group 4 for S2?
(sorry, no experience with FGS213)

Hi Domosapiens,

The device doesn't need secure inclusion. No secured inclusion used.

Currently I don't use groups. All devices are individual controlled by the Domoticz controller.
I've attached in previous message the z-wave configuration file which contain all devices currently known in the z-wave network. Is this enough info or do you need a drawing. Actually the Z-wave contains 5 roller shutters which are controlled with time triggers (sunset and absolute time and different for weekdays and weekend)
Humidity sensor controlling a ventilator in the bathroom and on/off switched controlling light.

Concerning the last remark adding 1 or 1.1 to group 2 for S1 and 1 or 1.1 to group 4 for S2. Actually the FGS-213 contain one 3KW switch so S2 isn't available. This action I do not understand exactly. I will try this tomorrow. As controlling the device with the connected switch is working as expected but controlling the device via the Domoticz controller it's not working so I do get how the group definition will solve this. Nevertheless I will try it tomorrow. Keep you posted. ;)

Is there a way to log what is exactly send to the device via the z-wave network? Is it On / off or 0 / 255. In the last case the device will not accept the command as it is used for a dimmer while the command set is used for a switch.

Thanks

... @forum members ... Any other advices / proposals that I can try? :roll:

Thanks

First of all:
fgs213.xml was updated 15 days ago.
https://github.com/domoticz/domoticz/tr ... fig/fibaro
You seem to run a version from 2016-11-10
Install the latest Beta http://www.domoticz.com/downloads/
Delete the zwcfg_0x0184dea9.xml cache file and let Domoticz rebuild it based on the latest Config files

Your zwcfg_0x0184dea9.xml shows for node 21:

Code: Select all

<CommandClass id="133" name="COMMAND_CLASS_ASSOCIATION" version="1" request_flags="5" innif="true">
                <Instance index="1" endpoint="1" />
                <Instance index="2" endpoint="2" />
                <Associations num_groups="5">
                    <Group index="1" max_associations="1" label="Lifeline" auto="true" multiInstance="true">
                        <Node id="1" />
                    </Group>
                    <Group index="2" max_associations="16" label="On/Off S1" auto="false" multiInstance="true" />
                    <Group index="3" max_associations="16" label="Dimmer S1" auto="false" multiInstance="true" />
                    <Group index="4" max_associations="16" label="On/Off S2" auto="false" multiInstance="true" />
                    <Group index="5" max_associations="16" label="Dimmer S2" auto="false" multiInstance="true" />
                </Associations>
So it should be controllable as switch AND as dimmer (??).

1)
What is in your Device list when you filter on 15 (the hex representation of 21 decimal) ?
Go to Setup -> Devices -> fill-in in the search 15, or 015 or 150 to see all devices of node 21.
Do you see 2 dimmers and 2 switches ?? (and some power meters?)

2)
What is in the configuration screen?
Go to Setup -> Hardware -> OpenZwave USB blue Setup button -> Select the FGS213 and scroll down
What about Param. 10 Operating mode?
Param 27 Secure/Non-Secure ?
See http://manuals.fibaro.com/content/manua ... T-v1.1.pdf

3)
For Groups and Network (not the Groups as in Scenes!):
Go to Setup -> Hardware -> OpenZwave USB blue Setup button -> Node Management -> Groups and Network
Sample:
Zwave_Network_-_2017-01-25_10.03.51 part.jpg
Zwave_Network_-_2017-01-25_10.03.51 part.jpg (129.81 KiB) Viewed 2440 times
For the FGS213 the lifeline is Group 1, so your controller (id=1) must be there.
(that seems OK, because Domoticz receives the physical push button information)
You can play around there with adding 1 or 1.1 to group 2 for S1 and 1 or 1.1 to group 4 for S2
if no switches are shown at 1)

4)
What is shown as the Current State?
Go to Setup -> More Options -> Events -> Show Current States blue button down/right
Do you see Off/On or Off/level ?

5)
What is in the Status Log?
Go to Setup -> Log -> Status
use the Domoticz Dimmer/Switch and observe: On or Set Level?

Hi Domosapiens,

Thanks for the reply.

Below the answers on your questions:

1)
In the device list filtered on 150 I have the following:
devices.png
devices.png (28.78 KiB) Viewed 2431 times
So actually two switches (while this device has only one switch) one energy meter and one device unknown type usage ... don't know what this is.

2)

Below the info of the configuration.

Code: Select all

10. First channel - operating mode:
     Standard operation
This parameter allows to choose operating for the 1st channel controlled by the S1 switch.

27. Associations in Z-Wave network security mode: (actual: 15)
     15
This parameter defines how commands are sent to specified association groups: as secure or non-secure. Parameter is active only in Z-Wave network security mode. This parameter does not apply to 1st lifeline group. 1 - 2nd group sent as secure. 2 - 3rd group sent as secure. 4 - 4th group sent as secure. 8 - 5th group sent as secure. Default setting: 15 (all)
3)
Groups_and_network.png
Groups_and_network.png (244.2 KiB) Viewed 2431 times
4)
So here I see off and a level (255)
When switch is off (idx=10)
When the command switch on is given via Domoticz dashboard
Current_state_1.png
Current_state_1.png (37.53 KiB) Viewed 2430 times
5)
Checking the on / set level

Code: Select all

2017-01-26 11:35:56.077 Incoming connection from: ***.***.***.***
2017-01-26 11:36:07.104 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/Off)
2017-01-26 11:36:14.735 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/On)
2017-01-26 11:36:49.093 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/Off)
2017-01-26 11:36:51.496 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/On)
2017-01-26 11:36:53.532 User: Admin initiated a switch command (10/Living voor/Off)
Actually now the FGS213 is working. Don't know how it is solved ... by adding 1 to group 2 for S1 and 1 to group 4 for S2 (which is not available). by removing those groups the device is still working.

Don't know how it is solved nevertheless thanks for the support :D

Great!
Then you can mark your first post as solved.

Indeed one switch, (the FGS-223 has 2) but 2 inputs: S1 and S2.

But did you upgrade Domoticz ?
