Turn screen off on tablet with Domoticz switch.

Post by tjabas »

Hi!

As the topic says, is it possible to turn off a Android tablet screen in the same network as the Domoticz is located by turning on a switch in Domoticz?

That was a long question, but i hope you understand what i mean :)

I haven't used Android for years but IIRC it has power profiles.
If so you could set a profile for when on battery = screen off, when on mains power = screen always on.

then just have Domoticz toggle the plug socket that powers it?

Thats a great idea, i have the tablet on the wall and using Domoticz Android app to control my devices, and the screen is always on, i just trough that it could be turned off when we arent home, and this should ofcourse be automatic.
I have the burglar alarm connected to domoticz, so i can turn the alarm on/off using Domoticz, and trough that also be able to turn the screen on and off.

Glad to be of help.
There may be other ways...perhaps using an ssh call to the tablet but i reckon it would over complicate things.

While this isn't exactly a solution for you original request, maybe it will solve your requirement.
There is a solution that turns on tablet screen based on motion detection by the device's front camera.
I haven't tested it myself, but I will give it a try.

This can be achieved with Tasker or Automate. With a proper plugin (e.g. Pushover) Tasker or Automate can listen to a command from Domoticz and lock your screen.

I use Automate. When you already use Pushover, it acts as plugin for Automate.

I enable the screen based on movement this works fine, I've used the description on this forum (did not check the one mentioned above)
Synology NAS, slave PI3, ZWave (Fibaro), Xiaomi zigbee devices, BTLE plant sensor, DzVents, Dashticz on tablet, Logitech Media Server
