RFXcom keeps going into flashmode

Hi all,

I have just started looking into Home Automation. I already have a Raspberry Pi2 , so after quick search on the internet i decided to go with Domoticz. I recently adapted my ageing garage door opener to to work with a remote 433Mhz keyfob and relay. With this in mind I decided to buy the RFXcom 433e transceiver.

everything is now setup and the RFXcom can receive the remote keyfob code and transmit it to open / close the door. I also have some remote power sockets controlled by a hand held remote. again domoticz / rfxcom can see /controll these.
my problem is that the RFXcom transceiver goes into flash mode (red led light continuously on). it has done this 3 times now in the space of 1 evening when i was putting everything together. if i flash it again all is ok until a short time later it does it again...i have put the latest firmware on '1012'. has nay one else experienced this behaviour..

Are you sure it is the flashing mode.
The red led is indeed lighting up when going into flashing mode.
But also when it receives incoming signals and depending.
You have two leds, Orange when it sent out signals and a red for incoming signals

Please check with RFXmngr if the you have the same behavior.
Contact support rfxcom.com if the RFXtrx is in error.

Hi,
everything has been switched off for a few days as i have been out of action due to an operation..

anyway having powered everything up again the RFXcomm still has the red led constantly on. if i ask domoticz to learn a switch nothing happens, ie it says it has not receievd a signal. again nothing happens if i ask domoticz to turn on the power socket.

if i flash the unit all works again..i am puzzled..

i will connect it to RFXmngr, although id do this using a windows machine...

If the RFXtrx is in bootload mode, what happens if you unplug and reinsert the USB connector?

hmm.
after unplugging leaving a minute and plugging back in... all seems ok. Domoticz will turn the socket on and off. i did this before (last week)but nothing changed... i will keep eye on it as it still doesnt explain why it stops working..

There are some Linux versions that transmit a byte to a serial port during startup. This byte will force the RFXtrx433E in bootload mode.
Which Linux did you install?

it has just happened again... just playing with turning on and off a couple of remote sockets.
unplugged waited a few seconds and works again.

i am running the folowing
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ uname -a
Linux raspberrypi 4.4.38-v7+ #938 SMP Thu Dec 15 15:22:21 GMT 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux

i think i have found the cause just not a fix yet.

when i ask domoticz to open the garage door (or any command related to the remote and relay) it makes the RFXcom red led stay on continously until rebooted.

when adding the switch in 'learn mode' it receives the signal ok. it all did work when i first configured this setup. i will re-learn the remote etc.

The command sent that forces bootload mode,
the firmware type and version used.

hi,
since i removed the devices entries to to operate the garage door ie open close and stop the RFXcom device has been working a dream.
i have re-added/ discovered the key fob codes and all is ok.
unfortunately i done have a record of what the code is, so i cant pass onto support.
i have now got HA-bridge working and i can controll the limited devices i have from Amazon Alexa
