Actually, if I try the URL in a browser - it shows "Domotics Offline" page without giving me the chance to enter user name/pass. The workaround I found for accessing Domotics when I am out of home is to access it from a private window of the browser. Do you think this is related?

Could you try without the vpn? Just to rule out the possibility that the VPN messes up the call. The http request is scheduled to also have a data connection available, maybe in combination with the VPN this doesn't work always?
