my experience is not directly linked to an Aeotec Multisensor but with Fibaro and others.
Whether it's the alarm system or my Fibaros, cats are lovely but they don't play well with PIRs.

I'm not too sure that the backup capability of Domoticz also covers the "hardware" part, considering that known nodes and network is actually data on the USB controller itself.

got three of those, all running and sorry, never had such issue.
When you say "restart", do you mean Domoticz or the computer?
Did you try plugging it in a powered USB hub? Now, this said, one of mines is running on a CHIP computer... Definitely doesn't need much power.
