Solved after repeated service restarts and one step
in the middle, a step that may have done it: chmod a+rw domoticz_db in user space such that the root service could address it.
Not funny. Running a house has become an industrial process and Domoticz is the single point of failure (SPOF).

Hi, I get the "No favorite devices or communication lost" after an Ubuntu upgrade to Jammy
and cannot log in, either with my own usr/pw or the default admin/domoticz.' The domoticz db contains all settings.
