I change the heatmode of my Spirit Plus Thermostats using a dzVents Script.

You may try something like:
domoticz.devices('Thermostat Mode').updateMode('Off')

See the Spirit Plus user manual chapter 6.8 for the Heat Mode Parameters.

Thanks, Ropske. This solution works and is acceptable. I hope a future upgrade will make switching between modes possible. I am switching between 18 and 24 degrees, so no problem with the range.
