Awave.me Zwave+ -vs- Aeotec Z-StickS 2 Controller

Post by btedeski »

I have both installed on a Raspberry Pi

Aeotec Z-Stick S2 /dev/ttyUSB0
Z-Wave.Me RaZberry Controller ZWave+ /dev/ttyAMA0

Currently only the Aeotec S2 is configured, it is handy because I can carry it around to add devices

but for long term use, which controller is the better,

Any thoughts?

My Aeotech S2 has never let me down, being portable is a must for me.. my domoticz server is locked in a steel cabinet in my basement, not exactly best place to put a RF transceiver.. so I have a 35ft USB cord following an HDMI cable to behind my living room TV, this goes into a powered hub that holds the Z-Stick (and a usb to serial adapter hooked to TV).. Now my controller is right smack dab in the middle of my house and nearly everything has a direct signal to it.

Z-Stick can run on anything, not limited to a pi only.. if you want to use something else hardware wise its as easy as plugging it in and going.

I dont like being locked down into a platform, there are bigger and better things out there than RPI's, they are simply the most popular.
Debian Jessie: CuBox-i4 (Primary) w/Static Routed IP and x509 / BeagleBone with OpenSprinkler / BeagleBone Planted Aquarium / 3x Raspbery Pi2b GPIO Slaves
Elemental Theme - node-domoticz-mqtt - Home Theatre Controller - AndroidTV Simple OSD Remote - x509 TLS Auth
