How to start with RFXTRX433E with Windows?

Hi,

I am completely new with Domoticz and just bought a set of the RFXTRX433 transceiver, together with a Rasberry.
As I am completely new with this hobby, I thought it would be wise to start simple and just plug the transceiver into my USB port in my Windows 10 laptop, so without using the Rasberry yet.

I connected the Transceiver to the USB port and opened Domoticz. In the Hardware I could add the Transceiver without a problem, but if I then go to the Device screen I get an empty list? What do I do wrong?

Hi Johndomo,

It's quite possible that you have done nothing wrong!
Do you have any RFXtrx433e compatible devices?
If so, have you used 'Set Mode' to enable only these device types (and AC)?

Yes, I have compatible devices, but no, I didn't use the Set Mode option. So that's the first error....
But now I try. I get a screen in which I can select the device types, where I clicked the button 'Default' to have a selection of device types.
(I think I need AC for KlikaanKlikuit (to start with) but am not sure either).
Then I click the Set Mode button, after which the previous screen shows again. But the list of devices is still empty....
When I go back to the Set Mode screen, all selections are gone again... ?
I've also a button 'Upgrade firmware', but nothing seems to happen if I click that one..

Hello again,

Have you operated the KlikaanKlikuit device?
E.g. pressed the doorbell?
The log will show which protocols are dis/enabled, and any devices that have transmitted and been received by your RFXtrx433e
I got new firmware, and RFXmngr from the RFXcom website.
To use RFXmgr, first disable RFXCOM in Setup/Hardware.

Looks as if it is not started.
So -
Is it really on COM1?
Did you get the special drivers?
Have you tried with RFXmngr?

It detects the Comm port automatically and it changes if I use another USB port, so I think that is will be correct.
But: special drivers?!? No, I didn't install any myself... So?
RFXmngr: I hope to try that this evening...

The RFXcom page mentions special drivers, and has a link to them.

This evening I opened Domoticz, without doing anything else, and there were a few switches visible! So it seems to work.
Now I can start playing and find out how it works!

Perhaps your devices are a bit slow at reporting...
