P1 measurement resolution

Post by Jankeesvw »

Hi,

I'm trying to make my central heating more efficient and to do so I am building a fairly simple logging application which logs the room temperature, the temperature of the radiator and the gas usage. I'm putting this all in a graph which you can see in the attachment.

I'm using a P1 cable to measure the gas usage. If you look at the graph you'll see that the measurement interval for the P1 cable is approximately once every hour. Does anyone know if there is a way to make more samples of the gas usage?

Hope to hear from you,
Jankees

Nope, gas usage is reported once every hour. And if you happen to have an ISKRA ME382 kWh meter with a certain firmware version (don't remember the exact number) you won't see any gas usage any more, since 20160101. But apparently that's not the case.

You have a room temperature drop of more than 6 degrees overnight. Maybe you should improve the insulation of your home?
The room temperature also indicates that you have a boiler with bang-bang control. Can it do modulated control (through OpenTherm or similar)? That's also more energy-efficient.

grtz,

The problem is that most new smart gas meters are battery powered and they send their data via GPRS.
So that's why the granularity is set to one hour.
