Successor USB CO2 sensor

I would like to measure indoor air quality. I want to do this by measuring the CO2 level. I've been searching for a reliable indicator without the hassle of calibration. I think that the K- 30(or S8) SenseAir sensor can satisfy those requirements. This sensor seems much better than the Voltcraft USB sensor (supported by Domoticz)
that’s no longer available. See also (sorry only Dutch) http://www.co2indicator.nl/co2-meter.ht ... Gwod--UNaw

I would like to connect the sensor to an RPI that can be connected as a slave to Domoticz through a WiFi dongle.

Due to this set-up, I can use the sensor for controlling the ventilation ( stationary set-up). But occasionally, I can also use the sensor for measuring, for example, the CO2 level in a bedroom. It’s also possible to add a DHT22 (already supported) for measuring the relative air humidity.

On the internet I found http://co2meters.com/Documentation/AppN ... series.pdf

Electrically coupling the sensor to the RPI is no problem. For me the problem is the necessary software. I'am stuck and need help, I’am a noob.

It would be great if this sensor is supported by domoticz , perhaps as a successor to the USB sensor. But all other help is welcome.

Thanks in advance

Have a look at this topic: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/lis ... es/1609383 where different sensors are compared.

Hi Gizmocuz and Thinkpath

Thanks for your comments . The proposed sensor is not cheap ( quality outlives quantity ) . But given the importance of the parameter to be measured (related to health) reliability is important.

I have read the equation on the forum of tweakers and asked the same questions there ( http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/lis ... 6#45335466 ). I found no answers there i can use.

I don’t use mysensors at the moment (only piface and zwave). I searched on the site mysensors but I found no answers that helped me on there.

In addition, I am not a specialist ICT . If it really comes to coding I need help (blockly is no problem).

Jan

Hi Jan,

Perahps you already found a solution for you, but as on another forum there was a big interest in this topic i would like to raise the attention also here. There i was asked to modify a device i am selling to be used mostly in Home Automation setups
http://www.domoticaforum.eu/viewtopic.p ... 129#p78129

It comes pre-assembled with an NDIR sensor and firmware to connect via HTTP or MQTT to any server

I also put an offer a couple of days ago in the Deals and Bargains topic.
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=10860

As long as you are ventilating the room each couple of days - no calibration is necessary (but this is true for any CO2 sensor (apart from the dual beam ones)
