Why so many different/multiple devices

Post by jonator »

Hi all this is my first post and I have searched on this related topic on the forum without any answers.

When I add a new Node into Domotics, for example a door/window sensor, it become like 4 different types of devices in the Device list as Burglar, sensor, Lightning etc - how do I know which one I should add to the Dashboard - how do I determine which one is the right one to chose?

If I add like 2-3 sensors on the same time it is impossible to know which one is the right one for later on.

Rename all devices each time you add one. Otherwise you'll have plenty of unknown unused devices.
After that, test the different things you want the sensor to report and add those devices.

It is actually pretty easy.

First go to your Z-Wave control panel.
There you see a list with all the devices you added.

F.i.:

On the left you see the decimal and the hexadecimal (starts with 0x) address. Pay attention to the hexadecimal address '0b'.

Then go to the (Ununsed) Devices list and type '0b' in the search box.
Look for the ZWave hardware in that list.
You will now see all the Domoticz devices of the node.
