An official raspberry Pi touchscreen has been announced.
Could be useful for an in-wall control of Domoticz (if you do not want to use a tablet)

What is the advantage of this over a cheap android based tablet?

None, or maybe ONE cord less for power. Did a google for the prices here in Sweden and it's the same price and even more than a cheap android tablet. Maybe the price will drop but I don't see any reason to buy this "DSI touch screen" ...

It even has the disadvantage that the Pi needs to be behind it.
Now I have the Pi in a closet in the basement and a tablet in the kitchen.
But for some it might be a fun addition, and it might be always on, could be faster than getting a tablet out of standby etc.

Resolution of 800x480 is also lower than of a cheap Android tablet. I bought a cheap 7" Android tablet (Colorfly E708 Q1) a year ago for ~€55. Resolution is 1280x800 i thought.

From what I read the advantage is that you can still use the hdmi out as well as the touch screen. i.e. for media applications.

Is the Frontpage available on the Hdmi then? Never tried because my pi is in the closet.

would be really nice if there was a slick interface (or even the dashboard) you could put up from a pi (either the domoticz box or another pi in the house) on one of these. I know you can do it from a browser in raspbian etc, but all the stuff eats up 2/3rds of the screen. A nice interface would be neat
