I use now https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Presence_detection
This script checks the presence off the ip-addresses of the phones in the home network

But then you need WiFi enabled , I used both ;) en geo and WiFi so the presence should be detected better

Hopefully you find some time soon, because it is very annoying Android 8 is not working.

I have an improved version almost ready, but don't have Android 8.0 so it will be difficult to test for me. I will post a beta link here once it is ready.

I have just posted some beta builds in the Play Store. As I don't have an phone with Android 8+ (yet) it is difficult for me to test if everything correctly works.
Android 8 has some pretty big changes in Geofencing, Notifications and apps that run in the background (This is exactly everything my app does...).

If you want to help test you can join the Beta test here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/co ... .domofence

Please be aware that sometimes these versions can be broken (of course I try to avoid this)

Appesteijn, many thanks for taking the time to work on these updates. I just installed the last beta in my Oreo and will test it tomorrow on my way to work. For the moment it seems to be working correctly. I'll report back asap!

Great, thanks for the new (beta) version!!
But it looks like it only sends the home/On signal. The leaving/Off singnal won't work.
And the notification only works once (when editting the settings and adding the Geofence).

Many thanks for this great piece of software. In my case:

In my Asus with Oreo, the last beta seems to work well... great!

In my wife's phone, Samsung on Android 4.4.2, the app hangs when setting the geofencing, although it then seems to work... But only sends the signal when leaving the fence, but not when entering again.

Open for more testing if needed :-)

Thanks for the hard work and I'm sorry to report this but while working great on Android 8, last version is not yet working on my wife's Android 4.4.2. Made more tests with other geofencing apps (e.g. EgiGeoZone) and they work correctly both when entering ans leaving the geofence. It would be great however to get Domofence running since other apps are significantly heavier.

Unfortunately same problem over here with the Galaxy S8 with Oreo. During/leaving the initial setup, it gives a onetime notification but after that, no switches are made when entering or leaving the geofence (and no notifications). :(

Thanks for you support!

I put a version in Beta that should fix Android 4.4
