WS1700 cheap temp sensor

Hi Guys,
I already asked it on Tweakers, but i got no response.
I just bought 3 cheap temp sensors, the sensor is recognized as Alecto WS1700 in RFXmngr when i connect the RFXCOM to my PC with the Rubicson protocol:
Unfortunately the sensor doesn't show up under unused devices:
I noticed when i want to change the RFXcom protocols in Domoticz so that Rubicson is included i see the following in the logs:
Code: Select all
2015-02-01 12:59:00 Error: UNHANDLED PACKET TYPE: FS20 00
subtype = Wrong command received from application (3)
Sequence nbr = 43
subtype = Interface Response
Sequence nbr = 44
response on cmnd = Save
Maybe, just maybe there is a problem is selecting the Rubicson protocol??
Thx,

Not all protocols can be enabled at the same time, see also this post:
http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic ... ram#p32846
It looks like the RFXCOM can receive the temperature fine, but it is not supported by Domoticz (yet).

Just curious. What brand and type sensors you have?

Just tried to enable and disable Rubicson protocol (@V2.2252):
Code: Select all
Error: UNHANDLED PACKET TYPE: FS20 00
Same message. Could be a Domoticz bug?
edit: Just updated my RFXtrx433E from 235 to 236 error message remains the same.

Ok, RP. Thx for testing! it seems like a bugµ
I just did an update to 2252 and now i see the following in the logs:
Code: Select all
2015-02-02 08:44:12 Error: UNHANDLED PACKET TYPE: FS20 00
2015-02-02 08:44:12 RFXCOM: Please upgrade your RFXTrx Firmware!...
I have firmware 235 on the RFXcom. Later in the day i also going to update my RFXcom and making a bug report if the error persist.

I bought this sensor also. It seems to be working in Domotiz.
Mine is bought at a local store (Blokker). It's currently for sale for 9,99 EUR. But this includes also a indoor unit. Although not very usefull.. but for this price.. Having it in stock and being able to pick it up directly.. Better than waiting weeks for shipping.
http://www.blokker.nl/nl/blknl/weerstation-met-zender
Anyway: RFXmngr detects it as:
Code: Select all
Packettype = TEMP_HUM
subtype = TH13 - Alecto WS1700 and compatibles
channel 2
Sequence nbr = 107
ID = 12802
Temperature = 2,2 °C
Humidity = 10
Status = Dry
Pictures from the ebay listing looks 100% identical to mine. Only difference is mine only displays temperature on its display (No humidity as on the Ebay listing).
I'm not sure if humidity is measured, but based on the output of rfxmngr it looks like it does.
In Domoticz I've only enabled Lighting4/Rubicson/La Crosse/Hideki/LightwaveRF/OregonScientific/Homeeasy as devices. (Still in progress of setting up Domoticz, might disable some at a later time)
I however did update my RFXcom last weekend, since RFXmngr was complaining about outdated version, and after updating asking me to update firmware also. Currently running RFXtrx433_Ext_236 on a RFXtrx433E.

Do you see the following error in your logs after you "SET" new protocols in Domoticz?
Code: Select all
2015-02-02 08:44:12 Error: UNHANDLED PACKET TYPE: FS20 00
What version of Domoticz are you running?
I still need to update the rfxcom to 236, although i don't see important changes between version 235. Besides the sensor is working fine in rfxmngr

DJSmiley, did you have done something special to make the sensor work? I've bought the same sensor and i can't see it in Domoticz. I have the same protocols enable as you
The current version of my RFx
RFXCOM - RFXtrx433 USB 433.92MHz Transceiver
Firmware version: 83
But it isn't seen in the log files so it isn;t listed in the unused devices.
Any ideas how i can make it work? I've placed the sensor directly next to my receiver so i know for sure it isn;t the distance.

nick, i would start by updating your RFXCOM. DJSmiley is running v236 firmware on the RFXCOM, you are running v83....

Note that the WS1700 and compatibles are only supported by the RFXtrx433E and not by the RFXtrx433!
236 firmware is Ext firmware and will only operate in the RFXtrx433E.

Yes that was what i was thinking, yesterday i was running version 71 so i've updated to the latest version, number 83. Thats the latest version for my RFXtrx433 right? I can see in the zip file that version 236 is for the _ext version, i don't own that one so i've looked at the rfttrx433_type1 (what is the difference between type 1 and type 2?) and the latest version of type 1 is 83. The latest version for type 2 is 183.

Hi guys, i found the problem.
When i am using my RFXtrx433E with latest firmware over LAN i doesn't work (i cant select extra protocols, see error in previous post)
When i connect the RFX to USB > set mode to include Rubicson it immediately starting to work.
So the problem is that i can't select extra protocols when my RFXcom is connected over lan (ser2net / socat)
Also, the firmware isn't displayed in Domoticz when connected over LAN:
Proof (connected to USB): cheap temp is the one
Please advise what i need to do now?

See chapter 2.2.2. in the RFXtrx User Guide for the list of supported devices in each firmware version
A1AD wrote: Please advise what i need to do now?
Connect the RFXtrx to a Windows system, select the protocols to be used for receive, click Set Mode, click Save Settings. The protocol selection is now save in the RFXtrx and restored at start-up.

well yes, i did it several times in the rfxmngr with no success, but now i got it working by connecting the RFX to a windows OS and set the protocols in Domoticz. Very strange.
At least i can use my cheap sensors now

I picked up one of these units at the blokker (the one that DJSmiley linked).
However I dont see it when i look at the device's.
I am using a RFXtrx433E with firmware 239 and i got it plugged into my raspberry pi using usb.
Are there any more action i should do to get it recognised ?
When I set the mode (with the modes as Nick has them selectend and also tried onle Rubicson) in domoticz i do see the "UNHANDLED PACKET TYPE: FS20 00" error, so i set the mode in RFXMngr without a error in RFXMngr.

I do not see any signals in RFXmngr like this, do you need to pres a button on the unit to get it to send a signal?

Another user reported that the Blokker Xiron sensor with EN7 on the small label did not operate while the sensor marked EN6 operates as WS1700.

Just registered to mention that i have successfully added 5 of these E9.99 blokker weatherstation sensors to domoticz (the one that DJSmiley linked) using the rubicson protocol. I've only once seen that FS20 error: while i was switching protocols
(RFXtrx433E(v235) raspberry domoticz(V2.2284).
Although the importer seems the same as the xiron devices (sticker on box: L. Dake en Zn.), the packaging/device itself does not mention a brand, only: Batch 2014/39, Artnr 1730796, and looks different to the blokker xiron devices.
I wonder how long the double AAA will last, as the sensor sends an update every 40 seconds.
