Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
Hi,
Today I upgraded dashticz to the latest 4.05 version.
I upgraded from version 3.14.x, which is using a custom config.js and custom.css file for displaying all items nicely tailored.
With the new 4.0.5 version I'm using the same config.js and custom.css file used in the old version.
When dashticz is loading I have noticed some issues on my defined pages:
1. Graphs are displayed in 50% of their available width
2. Standby screen does not have the correct background any more, and items (weather owm and clock) are overlapping.
3. several text items are shifted in height and increased in size, like the custom.css file is not used?

I have the same with upgrading from master 3.14.
My 2nd Dashticz page is totally mixed up.
I'll keep working with master 3.14 for now

Ok, we will have to wait till one of the maintainers/devs will look into it I guess. As I understand the documentation need to be updated as well, maybe that will clarify some issues.
I guess that some of the old config items are replaced and/or obsolete which causes the crippled dashboard.

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
As you have seen on the previous post on this forum, there has been a major update/upgrade of Dashticz
This was needed to move forward. Some packages were release older than 8 years old and not supported
Also the structure has been changed and indeed can break some features (at this moment).
Dashticz is having a lot of separate packages or features which are behaving differently
The best is to raise an issue of GIt with a good description of the problem.
It is hard to solve issue with general descripions with specific custom layouts / setups

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
I'm trying to create my old Dashticz dashboard with the new version 4.0.5.
I have blocks that shows a Domoticz variable value. Can I create the same block with the 4.0.5 version? With the old block I could use idx v3 for variable number 3.

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
Basically you could use your config.js
The problem will be your custom.css due the bootstrap upgrade from v3 to v5
Or you can try the wizard mode to recreate your dashboard
Make a good backup of your config files or make a second directory to play with (you can run multiple setups)

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
I have a lot custom css to my dashboard.
But I'm trying out the wizard mode for a new dashboard, only I can't find how to add a button block or a variable value block.
Is is that even possible or not?

I'm trying to understand what you exactly need.
You can use Custom device to make a device linked to a IDX or multidevice for sub-devices

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
I tried custom device, but v3 is not a valid idx to add that variable. Buttons are some special blocks in old Dashticz.
Here my 2 blocks I wanna add:

Code: Select all
blocks['btn_kalender'] = { //Button om kalenders weer te geven
type: 'button',
width: 4,
image: '../custom/img/calendar.svg',

url: 'http://192.168.2.14:80/dashticz/?folder=custom/kalender',
newwindow: 2
}

width: 12,
graph: false,

Ok. I'll check to add them in the wizard mode as a feature

There is already a possibility to display the Domoticz log

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
I took a look at this, and both examples you posted are already possible in current Dashticz — with one small gap I've since fixed.
1. The calendar button (btn_kalender)
This already works as-is with the current version. A block with type: 'button' plus image / title / url / newwindow: 2 is recognized out of the box and opens the URL in a popup/iframe exactly as intended. No changes needed here — you can also add this through the Widget Editor's button wizard (Open URL → Popup/iframe) instead of hand-editing CONFIG.js.
2. The Domoticz variable (idx: 'v3')
This also already works at the runtime level — it's actually documented in docs/blocks/domoticzblocks.rst. The issue was specifically in the Custom Device editor (the GUI): it only accepted a positive integer as IDX, both client-side (<input type="number">) and server-side (saveblocks.php and configwriter.php cast the idx to (int), which would have turned 'v3' into 0).
I've fixed that end-to-end, so the Custom Device popup now also accepts a v<idx> value for referencing a Domoticz user variable. This has will pushed asap

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
Ok. Thanks. I deleted my new config by accident and have to rebuild it. A good way to learn how the new version works.
The variable block is shown in the beta but I can't change anything afterwards.
I have disabled the show update function and there is no way now to disable it within the variable block.
I can edit the CONFIG.js file directly, but tried the edit function of Dashticz itself.

Re: Dashticz 4.0.5 issues after upgrade from 3.14.x
I created an issue.
https://github.com/Dashticz/dashticz/issues/1284
Do you have this issue only with the variable block ?
Appreciate to continue in the issue and solve this

I downloaded latest beta, but see no difference to edit the block and the latest update is still shown. Am I missing something?

Thanks for tracking that down fast madpatrick. Good to see the v<idx> fix already, in beta. I'll wait for the GitHub issue to close before migrating my variable blocks.
