Integrating mmWave Fall Detection Sensor MR60FDA2 from Seeed studio

Post by averter »

I have not seen any mmwave sensor integrated into domoticz, even fall detection sensors as far as I can tell, so I thought this was worth sharing.
Documentation link, github link
Steps
  1. Install esphome and mqtt
  2. Download yaml file from above github webpage
  3. Create a new device in esphome, in its config file paste the downloaded yaml, comment the "api:" section of the yaml file and add wifi and mqtt details as follows

    Code: Select all

    # Enable Home Assistant API
    #api:

    ota:
      - platform: esphome

    wifi:
      ssid: !secret wifi_ssid
      password: !secret wifi_password
      use_address: 192.168.1.107

      # Enable fallback hotspot (captive portal) in case wifi connection fails
      ap:
        ssid: "Seeed-Studio-Mr60Fda2"
        password: "OGPnYVXUnrfS"

    mqtt:
      broker: !secret mqtt_broker
      topic_prefix: home/fall_detector

  4. Plug the sensor into your laptop and install the config file via ESPhome web
  5. If all goes well the log in esphome should show constant stream of illuminance readings
  6. Finally now in domoticz add new hardware of the type MQTT Auto discovery client gateway with Lan interface
  7. Set the remote address and port of your MQTT broker
  8. autodiscovery prefix needs to be homeassistant, add and the sensor devices should be created in the switch and utility tabs
