Icon of Switch Type "door contact" doesn't change to "open"

Post by imautohuttraeger »

Version: 2026.1 stable
Platform: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ , 1 GB with Debian Trixie
Plugin/Hardware: Dummy Hardware

Description:
Since version 2026.1 (most likely), the icons used for switch type "door contact" don't change to "open" or "on". The icon remains on status "closed" or "off". Tested it with different icons, both standard ones and custom icons.

The same is happening with the Window icon.
Icon image does not follow device state and always show the window closed.

Version: 2026.1 stable
Platform: PC Intel CPU, 8 GB with Ubuntu 24.10
Plugin/Hardware: Z2m device

Is this on the dashboard or the switches tab? Is the switches tab correct?

Disregard this message. This should already have been solved to days ago in the latest beta version.
Could you try this beta please?

Would love to test in beta, but I don't run a staging system (maybe I should finally establish it). Because of bad experiences in the past (not only with Domoticz) I follow the principle "never - or seldomly - change a running system". At least that is is the safest way for someone like me with far less than 5% expert knowledge 😉

Okey well it is solved. And the beta's are pretty stable, specially so fast after a stable release). You can update now and disable the updater.
Depending if you use docker or not, if not, there is always a backup made in the backup folder, so I can't see why you could not switch back a version if you want to.
With docker compose you even check out a specific version

Finally I dared to install latest beta v2026.1 (build 17606). And you are really right: I should not be so scared as rolling back is always possible. However - me as a coward made an image of the sd-card before ;)

Yes, I confirm that the open state is shown now. Thank you very much!

Crazy! :D And that is even the most dangerous thing you can do. Shutdown a running system and making a backup of the sd card (you could accidently swap the source/destination) and a bit waste of time...
When you are going to re-install Domoticz on a new system you probably want to to install the new operating system as well.

Ups - this is obviously a problem, when a guy like me thinks it is a good idea but is not fully aware of possible bad consequences 🥴

I always made an image before substantial changes and copied it onto a second card in order to be able to always instantly have a running system if the first card crashes or the update fails. And indeed with the disadvantage of wasting time.

Thanks - your warning motivates me to re-think my strategy. Although I at least try to be fully concentrated to start with "read" instead of "write".

However - fortunately this worked without such an accident like you described for several years for the time being ... And in parallel I make a full backup of the /domoticz folder.
