Lost gas metering when swapped to new power meter

Hi folks,

Due to some vague connection problems and 2G phasing out, the electrical company swapped out the power meter for a new one. The gas meter is coupled to the power meter which reads the serial number correctly.

Only problem what I'm facing now is when I started up docker trough the synology and booting the usual steps, the gasdata won't come trough.

The log on domoticz says the following:

port: /dev/ttyUSB0
2025-11-07 23:17:13.412 Status: P1: Worker started...
2025-11-07 23:17:14.134 Status: P1: Meter reports as ESMR 5.0
2025-11-07 23:17:14.176 Status: P1: Found gas meter on M-Bus channel 1

So it sees the gas meter but wont update the data.

What's the best to do to get the data read again?

Check the non reporting gas meter section on the Wiki https://wiki.domoticz.com/Dutch_DSMR_sm ... g_any_data

Tnx for the headsup. I tried all 4 channels individually, but it won't budge.

2025-11-08 08:06:29.973 Status: : Gas meter M-Bus channel 2 (tried 1 till 4) enforced by 'P1GasMeterChannel' user variable
2025-11-08 08:06:29.973 Status: P1: Using serial port: /dev/ttyUSB0

All other readings on behalf of uasge and return etc are working fine, so the connection is there.

Are you on a recent Domoticz version?
There were some changes in P1 last years.

Else check the telegram that is coming out of the P1 meter:

Code: Select all

sudo service domoticz stop
sudo cu -l /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200
sudo service domoticz start

I'm still running 2022.1 (build 14394) on DSM 7.0. It was quite the work to get it all running and when it all worked I didn't touch it anymore.

Once you have docker running, and you have a custom start.sh for installing your plugin requirements if needed , it should be easy to update.

Also check if you have a new device (and make sure accept new devices is enabled in the settting)

But this is quite old, almost 4 years!?! You should really update!

Why not spin up another instance of Domoticz and try the P1 meter hardware?

Not sure what NAS version you are using, and if you have the possibility to run dockers, but if yes, spin up a new docker.

Else just try Domoticz on your windows computer/laptop (or linux) plug in the USB 2 P1 cable and test

Yeah i know. It was a bit fiddly but are now on the latest 2025 version. (running 920+ DSM 7.0)

Still no gasmeter data.

I will call the company tomorrow who had it replaced. I'm sure the guy didn' t pair it properly. (can dee the gasmeter serial number in the powermeter but no usage)

Spinning up a clean one is a good idea yeah. I get all data, except the darn gas meter.

It indeed seems that it is not paired correctly.
You should be able to see the gas meter on the display of the P1 meter

Got a reply from the company (Liander)

They said it takes up to 1 month to get the new power meter to read the gasmeter correctly. The connection should be fine because it reads the serial number correctly.

To be continued.. I'll keep posted.
