Regarding Trixy, anyone succeeded in booting headless?

My pi only starts with a keyboard connected. I tried several thinks (google and copilot), but so far no luck.

I have done a fresh Trixie install on a Rpi3B+, headless. I had to wait a few minutes before i could login. After this i installed Domoticz Stable 2025.2. No major problems, just a small problem with Z4D, but that was quick solved. Have you modified the settings in Raspberry Pi Imager?

I am using it for building Domoticz from scratch, but the pi won't boot without keyboard.

What is Z4D?

I do not use the imager, but I did the settings, first boot is always via monitor/keyboard.

I just need to check the timezone

Z4D is Zigbee for Domoticz. Was just for information, not a part of your problem.
I always use the Pi imager, have never problems with the first boot headless without connecting a keyboard/monitor

If you are using imager 1.96 there is a bug: [BUG]:Enabling SSH does not enable SSH #1242
See: https://github.com/raspberrypi/rpi-imager/issues/1242
I used an older version to write the image: https://github.com/raspberrypi/rpi-imager/releases

ssh is enabled, it just does not boot without a keyboard attached.

So far no luck with google/ai etc. I just bricked the OS on my ssd for some reason and started over again

Hmm, i am using V1.9.6, it worked for me. #1242 has only affect on Bookworm in combination with Rpi5, 500 as discribed in #1242?

Eventually I used rpi imager, but same result. No headless boot without keyboard.

I guess buying a USB HID (fake keyboard) is the way to go. Things obviuosly have changed in Trivy compared to older OS-ses

Hello,

What is your PI version & boot mode in use (classical uSD or USB attached external storage)?

This may make a difference compared to others that does not experiment this issue... and maybe provide keywords for better targeted web search for possible reasons and workarounds.

I was using a pi 3b with an ssd.

I yesterday bought a pi 5 and will check tommorow I think

It works now.

Using a Pi 5, trixy lite set to the ssd with rpi imager and using a raspberry powersupply.

I guess the Pi5 and the new powersupply did the trick. The powersupply I use with the pi 3b always worked, but maybe trivy uses a bit more power which let the headless boot fail without keboard.

Hey all,
I installed domoticz on a pi4 with trixie. All seemed to work, except Python plugins!!
The log said "unable to load python..." when it tries to load my plugins. After some digging I found out that domoticz is built with older Python. Not the version that comes with trixie: Python 3.13. It is not that trivial to install the required libraries besides 3.13. Reason for me to stick to bullseye for now, and ignore the latest Domoticz update 2025.2 update. Domoticz crashes due to OpenSSL 3.0... :(
Seems that Domoticz narrows its OS compatibility to just bookworm at the moment.

Where did you get that assumption? Domoticz should work with python 13....

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Maybe I am wrong, but I checked the next:

First, my domoticz logfile says:
Status: PluginSystem: Failed dynamic library load, install the latest libpython3.x library that is available for your platform

Checking my RPI system:

pi@raspberrypi:~/domoticz $ python3 --version
Python 3.13.5

and to be sure:
pi@raspberrypi:~/domoticz $ sudo apt install libpython3.13
libpython3.13 is already the newest version (3.13.5-2).

After some googling, I concluded that domoticz is searching for libpython3.10 libraries, and are obviously not there causing the plugin system to fail. I admit, a pretty fast conclusion. Please, give me a hint to solve this.

Support for Python 3.13 was already enabled in stable 2025.1
https://wiki.domoticz.com/Using_Python_ ... _Raspbian)
Did you install python3-dev:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install python3-dev

This was it. Thank you for the quick help.
Would be nice that the domoticz installer checks this ;)

I move all my services (including domoticz) to docker. This presents issues like this…

And introduces other issues but let us not elaborate on this here.....
