Long live Domoticz !!!

Hi all,
Long-time Domoticz user here — been running it for 10 years, though I haven’t been active on the forum recently.
My setup started on a Raspberry Pi 2, then 3, using an RFXtrx433 and an Everspring Z-Wave stick. Over time, I built a solid system:

- Heating control (pilot wire via Chacon 54755) synced with EDF Tempo
- Water heater, pool pump/lights, and VMC control
- Motion-triggered lighting
- Gate open/close/status management
- Lua and shell scripting
- Alarm logic based on multiple presence criteria
- Telegram notifications
- Nightly full USB backups (a lifesaver!)
- SD card wear optimization (never had a card failure)

After 10 years, it was time to upgrade before hardware fatigue kicked in. I also considered moving from OpenZWave to ZWave JS UI.
I tried Home Assistant on a new Raspberry Pi 5 — didn’t click. Too much time spent resolving version-dependent inconsistencies, even for basic integrations. Probably great for newcomers, but not for porting a mature setup.

So I returned to the latest stable Domoticz and reconfigured everything from scratch — which helped clean up legacy components.
Had some bumps with 433 MHz devices, JSON changes, and a FGMS-001 motion sensor that didn’t behave well under ZWave JS UI — but I got everything working again, and I’m hoping for another 10 years with this excellent home automation solution.

Now looking to replace my 433 MHz heater controllers with Sonoff Basic R2 units.
I know they need to be flashed — if you have any solid guides or best practices, I’m all ears.

Good to hear!
Perhaps try to switch to zigbee for your 433 devices, more reliable, like Zwave and same security. Wifi devices are less secure (in my opinion), not mesh and more power consumption. Those Sonoff devices are normally also in zigbee version available.

Not RPI5 but RPI4.
However for achieving tasks I cannot get Homeassistant to do what is easily achieved with dzVents.
HA is better in finding switches, everything out of the ordinary is unachievable for me.
Maybe I'm just too stupid to master YAML.

And this is the list of all Domoticz compatible (and cheaper than Zwave) Zigbee devices https://zigbee.blakadder.com/

Thank you, I managed to flash my Sonoff with Tasmota and get it recognized by Domoticz.
My PC is running Debian Bookworm (no Windows OS at home), so I was able to achieve my goals with the invaluable help of Gemini IA

Switching to Zigbee would be a significant cost, given that I have 10 radiators to manage, whereas for around sixty euros I have 10 Sonoff Basic R2s on Aliexpress :|

Less than 40 euros for 10 zigbee relay switches https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ewqz9Aw and then 1 coördinator for 30 with the option to safely use all kind of other devices...
And no need to flash to some kind of firmware. So plugin and play.
