What does autodiscovery do?

I have been using domoticz for many years but it is first now that I have read about autodiscovery, how does it work, will it find unpaired devices?
Domoticz MQTT Autodiscovery can, based on received MQTT messages that have a specific autodiscovery format, create and update Domoticz devices.
You need another control application like Zwave-JS-UI or Zigbee2MQTT to talk to the Zwave, Zigbee or other protocol controllers.

If you talk about pairing it normally means connecting the Zwave/Zigbee device to its controller. That still is a task for the control application to handle. When paired, the controller application will send a discovery message to MQTT that can be picked up by Domoticz MQTT Autodiscovery gateway.
