Docker and domoticz migration...

Post by Jeweettoch13 »

So i was tinkering around a bit to migrate my docker setup with domoticz to another volume, but with no succes so far.

My current setup is an Synology 920+, 4x14tb (volume1) and 2x1gb (volume2 and volume3) nvme as storage configured @btrfs.

The idea back then was to install docker to Volume1 and get domoticz to work with the Smart P1 meter and Goodwe UDP and some weather sensors (hassle but i did it). Since volume2 and volume3 are the surveillance cameras it was a good deal to not stress the disks to write continuous to volume1.

But docker and domoticz still does on volume1 and i want to let them work and write on volume3 so volume 1 is purely for audio, video so on and storage so they can get in sleep mode when not used which they now dont.

What i tried so far is some steps i found in the internet like stop docker and domoticz, in file manager migrate the shared folder to the other volume etc, but didn't worked out so far.

I did run backups of almost every instance of docker and domoticz to at least be sure not to lose almost a solid year of logs. (folder clones as well)

What can i do in some simple steps to migrate all of the programs to work on volume3 and let docker communicate with domoticz included the logfile and so on but not mess the whole thing up?

Help is much appreciated :)

Point domoticz docker volume setting to volume3 after copying the data to volume 3 should do the trick.

Do you use the Synology docker application or do you use docker compose?

I'm using the docker app from Synology.

I copied the entire docker map to volume3 and installed docker again at volume3 but for some reason i'm missing some last steps i believe because it will not auto resume. Also no installation of domoticz was found after. When i revert the whole thing back it works flawless again.

I'm not a whiz kid at coding unfortunately. How do i make docker to point at volume3?

I gues you have to google for docker move volume on synology. It is not a domoticz issue but a docker issue (on synology).
I cannot help you further, perhaps somebody else here?

Tried the exact steps but unfortunately did'nt worked out as planned. Almost wrecked the whole program setup. Took me an hour or to 2 get it working again. I'll let it be for now untill i have a decent description.
