All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Version: 2023 .1
Platform Raspberry pi 3b
After upgrade of domocitz all instrument panels are empty.
I upgraded domoticz, applied Admin password update - this was forced, apart from that no other settings changed.
Now, alle dashboard tabs / instrument panels (don't know how else to call them) in the web app are empty. See screenshot.
If I go to settings, devices all devices show as usual. I can select the graphs (???) button (2nd from right) and data shows. Readings are updated. No errors in log.
How do I get the app to function as usual again? (devices and readings and history shown in the different panels/dashboards).

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
That can happen if your browser-cache isn't cleaned. Sometimes CTRL-F5 does the trick, I mostly stop domoticz and ten go to the setings of the browser to empty the cache. Then restart domoticz

It's because of better security you have to assign devices to users in the user tap

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Thank you MdeBoer.
This is the second time after an upgrade that "my whole setup is messed up" . Last time also sth with security if I remember correctly.
In case a mod or community role is reading this: I'm thankful for the free and useful software But for those people for whom Domoticz is primarily something they use functionally, and not a hobby/pastime/plaything, perhaps consider sth of a warning before an upgrade next time, especially if the upgrade is unavoidable (as now the upgrade popup was right over the top navigation menu on mobile browser). For a 'normal' user, the current consequence of upgrading is not foreseeable / logical / understandable.

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Just a remark, the issue that navigation is mixed up after upgrade is because you probably accidentally assigned devices to you as a admin user. You should not have done this on the first place. Unfortunately this is something that cannot be prevented. Also we see here the few users that have this problem. Not the thousands that have no problem at all.

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Hi there,
I just upgraded and have the same issue.
I guess I allways been logged in as admin.
Now I have an empty dashboard and it seems I lost some devices ?
Please help! I recall last update had the same issue, but don't know to solve it this time.
I clicked also the wiki pages from WalterVL and Mdeboer. But I still haven't got a clue wjhat happened.
Cheers, Peter

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
1. Go to "About" and check the "Active User"
2. Go to "Users" and select the "Active User" from step 1
3. Click "Set Devices" button for that "Active User"
4. Check, if there are "selected options" (It should show "no selected option" if it is an admin)
5. If there are selected devices/options remove them from the list (it should be empty if it is an admin)

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Thanks Walter, (respect for your work !!!)
Active user is admin. I think the dutch translation on 'Set Devices' is only 'Apparaten' (=devices) without 'set' ?
I can't test this any more.
I (hope I did ?) solved by adding a second user "peter" with admin rights and deleting the default admin user.
Then after refreshing the browser the active user is peter.
And the dashboard and the vanished devices are back. So I'm happy, but did I do it allright in this way?
(may be next update will result in same stress?)

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Yes is fine so.
You should not had to create a new admin (Peter) but it will be fine after the next update.
There should be at least 1 admin in the domoticz system so you comply on that rule.

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Thanks Walter for confirming. Can you please explain a little bit more what happened after the upgrade? why is the dashboard empty then? and (panic mode) where did some self defined device go to?

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
There was a new security rule implemented that if a user has a set of defined devices assigned (for remote sharing with another Domoticz server) that this user only can see these assigned devices.
If you accidently assigned some devices to the admin user (because perhaps you experimented with this device sharing function) you as an admin could only see those devices. The rest became invisible.
There is now a warning in the wiki to not use an admin account for device sharing and assign devices to an admin.

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Ahah, months ago, may be earlier, I explicity turned the switch on for 'sharing devices for this user' but never realized this feature has nothing to do with current/actual Domoticz instance.
So if using Domoticz only for local purposes there is no reason to enable this button (so better leave it disabled)?

No, the switch Device sharing has nothing to do with the dissapearance of devices from your UI. It is the assignment of devices that created your issue.peterhnl wrote: ↑Monday 07 August 2023 14:08 Ahah, months ago, may be earlier, I explicity turned the switch on for 'sharing devices for this user' but never realized this feature has nothing to do with current/actual Domoticz instance.

But indeed better switch off Device sharing if you do not use it....

Thank you so much!
I clicked the "update" link by mistake and my dashboard became empty... I was afraid I lost everything.

Re: All dashboards empty after Domoticz upgrade
Hi All,
I'm a little bit confused. I just accidentally (stupid me) updated to 2023.2.
I saw I had to log in after updating and saw the advice to remove the standard admin login. I immediately did that, and removed that account (while being loged in as that account). After login in back again as the new admin user All my buttons are gone except dashboard and setup.
In the dashboard I get the "No favorite devices defined" message so I went to google.
1. rebooted my rpi
2. Tried another browser
3. cleared my browsers cash
4. Found this page and checked selected devices. None selected for new admin account.
5. rebooted my rpi
Still no buttons and no favorite devices found. If I check my settings/hardware/devices everything seems normal. Log is running, etc, etc..
Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?

Try going to the domoticz server with your browser in incognito mode and see what it does.

Also check in menu Setup - About what user is logged in now and check the devices for that user.
