Monitor switch status

Post by Jack007 »

Hi,

I apologize upfront if this is a dumb question.

I'm looking for a way to monitor (via 433) the status of a switch/relay. I only need to know if the switch is closed or open. A less wanted solution would be to see only if the switch changed status (open to close or close to open).
Any suggestions?

TIA

I believe (but I do not have RF devices) that those devices do not give feedback about their state. So you switch them on but the cannot send back the result.
Therefore you need a different protocol (and devices) like Zigbee, Zwave, bluetooth, Wifi etc.
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
Devices/plugins: ZigbeeforDomoticz (with Xiaomi, Ikea, Tuya devices), Nefit Easy, Midea Airco, Omnik Solar, Goodwe Solar

If your happy to do a bit of DIY then get a cheap 433Mhz door sensor and either use a spare pair of contacts on the relay you want to monitor and wire them across the reed switch in the door sensor or if you have no spare contacts you need to get a second small relay and wire the coil in parallel with the one you want to monitor and then connect the door sensor to the contacts in that one.
