expensive gas or smart electric bolier?

At the moment i'm using gas to heat my tap water. With increasing gas costs I'm thinking about installing an electric boiler. Also because I have overload capacity on my solar system. I'm reading about smart boilers, that learn your behaviour and heat the water only when there is demand.
Has anybody tweeked his (new) boiler with Domoticz or know systems that can be communicted with?

If you have overcapacity on your solar system you better invest in heating your house as it is 75% of your gas consumption (in the Netherlands).
A good airconditioning unit can also work as a heating device.
Even better, especially if you have floor heating, install a heat pump warming your CV water. But there are better places to discuss this than this forum.

No. Six months per year the house is not heated, but we still shower. Boiler system is a quick install <500 euro.
Airconditioning is already at first floor and therefor less suitable for grond level heating.

Thank you. Guess I will be buy a very basic boloiler and rewire the sensor and power relais. Already have my home heating on Smart Virtual Sensor plug in. This could be the same system as for the boiler

Yes, I have.
I have a wifi controlled electric boiler, a Tesy ModEco with wifi. It replaced a gas boiler.
I can control it through dzVents and an Android App by Tesy. It works very well.
Here are some pointers from gummiboll to access the wifi interface: https://github.com/gummiboll/tesytalk
I use it mainly to monitor the usage and the level of mix40 (standardized temp level of the water).
However, in the near future I will replace it with an outside air heatpump boiler, for efficiency reasons.

It should be possible to make a Domoticz script with the same result as a smart boiler. Then you only need a "normal" boiler.

Over here we have a "no gas" household, and without a heatpomp !

Interieur heating is done by a woodstove, which is connected by a heatexchanger to a boiler. Solar panels supply the boiler in the summer, woodstove in the winter. All things are connected and monitored by Domoticz through sensors and switches. Also redundant (scripts in Sonoff switches) in case Domoticz failed.

A smart script is one of the goals for the future, so i follow this topic with a lot of interest.

Sure, but the question was:
Has anybody tweeked his (new) boiler with Domoticz or know systems that can be communicted with?

Take care heatpump boilers are very-very noisy and this gets worse with ageing... + reliability is also a concern: Forget keeping them 15/20 years with almost no maintenance cost, 5 years without costly issue is really good figure. Combined with their price, they are IMO not a good bargain even with rising energy prices!

Where do you get this information from?
For a Heatpump far less wearing components and far less maintenance costs comparing with old fashioned gas Central Heating systems. In offices, shops and factories the airconditioning units also do not need to be exchanged every 5 years... It is the same technology.

Here we compared a classic electric boiler to a heatpump one. The heatpump if far more complicated than a electric resistance+simple Temp regulation!

Heatpumps for air conditioning are usually split systems even for homes (for industry/shops, that's always the case + good maintenance contracts). Compare their reliability with mobile all-in-one units connected to the outside with a pipe in the window, that'll be far different (+they are not used all year)! All heatpump electric boilers are such all in ones units. A work relation had 3 failures under warranty, 4th was the last: Repair cost over a brand new resistance based boiler. This was less than 5 years. Look users comments on the web, he's no exception.

+even if reliability was OK, if you have lower electric prices at night, that may not be a good bargain if noise may be a problem depending on boiler location: These units are so noisy that in (usually small) vacation home rentals with such equipment, always had to switch boilers off at night to be able to sleep!
