Doorbell sound glitches (repeats) on scene

Post by ZachariahVance »

Hi,

I have a AEON Labs (Aeotec) ZW056 Doorbell Gen5+.

I'd like it to ring on the activation of a scene. I did that. When it plays it kind of repeats the first half-second of the audio 6 to 7 times and then it continues playing the whole audio file. If I use the button that came with the doorbell, and press it, the audio plays normally.

Is there a way to play the sound via a scene, so it plays normally?

For now I activate the scene from the web interface. Later I'll use a remote to activate the scene.

Also tried:
Created a blocky script to ring the doorbell when a light switch is turned on: Same problem with the glitchy sound.

I don't have a fix for you because I never tried it myself. But I do know the doorbell will play a different "pattern" depending on how it got activated, i.e. that explains why it behaves differently when the external button gets pressed from when you activate it from your scene.

Which "pattern" is played and what the "pattern" does, is defined in the device's configuration settings. I remember reading a posting in the forum from a user Barry who actually found out and explained how this works: viewtopic.php?p=271118#p271118

Hi rrozema,

I've looked at his configuration. Mine is not the same. Mine seems less complex. Here it is:

One of the settings is : 6. Play Ringtone
It seems that it'd be possible to issue a command to play a specific ringtone.

From the GUI I go at : Setup: Hardware: Z-Wave: Setup: Drop-Down box: Control Panel: Select the Doorbell: Current Values: Play Ringtone:
There I enter 1 or 2 or 3 or etc and hit "Submit" and it plays the selected ringtone perfectly without any glitches. (See screenshot below)
Is there a way to issue that "Play Ringtone" command elsewhere from the GUI or from a simple script (Blockly preferably)?

Here's how I activate the DoorBell via Domoticz and Z-wave.

1st way:
I just click the Bell icon (Domoticz: Switches)

2nd way:
I use a blocky script:

When I activate the Christmas Tree Swich in the "On" position, it rings the Doorbell.

Both ways do the same glitchy sound described before.
