RFXcom

Post by koensch »

A few month ago i started using Domoticz and i was considering buying a RFXcom module to connect some 433MHz switches.

i have been scanning some webshops that used to sell these devices and i see "outof stock", "not available", "new model expected in may", etc.

Anyone knows what's going on? what has changed?

As most current devices seem to switch to 868Mhz and subsequent protocols, less and less demand for 433Mhz devices and controllers... so I think not many shops are eager to stock new supply when their is no/little demand.

For a DYI solution, look at the RTL-SDR (v3) where you can do both 433 and 868 but requires more work.

I do see quite often some 2nd hand offers for the RFXcom where people are switching to Z-wave, ZigBee, etc (all 868).

Good luck finding one (or consider switching to 868 devices if you do not have lots of 433 devices :) )
One RPi with Domoticz, RFX433e, aeon labs z-wave plus stick GEN5, ha-bridge 5.4.0 for Alexa, Philips Hue Bridge, Pimoroni Automation Hat
One RPi with Pi foundation standard touch screen to display Dashticz

thanks for the offer, but i think i'll skip the 433 train. Better to get on track with the 868MHz equipment.

Hi,

I'm also thinking of purchasing a Raspberry to control some blinds.
The RFXcom seems to be the needed part to get everything working, but it doesn't seem to be available.
