Thanks for the quick reply to my call for help!
In the meantime I located the domoticz.db database file with Filezilla and made a copy to put aside.
Next I deleted Domoticz as an app in the Asustor App Central and made sure the Domoticz folder was gone.
Then I reinstalled it but it keeps giving me the empty blue screen, even after waiting an hour.
I edited html5.appcache and removed the line views/update2.html which gave cache problems in the past, but to no avail.
The plan was to modify and import the database later, but as Domoticz looks more dead then alive, even with a default database, and I have nothing else to install it on to test (was planing to go Pi Compute Module with proper eMMC Flash memory instead of crappy subject to wear SDRAM later this year).
So as it does not even start with an empty database I do not know what to do next. I already spend hours on it today and it pretty much starts to feel like a waste of time. If I just had found this thread before...
I have used the officially in the App Central available non-docker version 2020.2.1 (not sure which build, it does not say it, if I can get the interface up and running I could tell) for quite some time now and that was working almost perfect (besides the Timers of Scenes which produce distorted screens) and I could update to more recent beta versions (which I did some weeks ago to check if that would solve the timers screens).
The docker version is available too and I worked with this in the past but that one is not updatable. Plus the database is totally different/incompatible I guess (Restore does not work) so that would mean a lot of work to get it all back the way it was. I also had the Telegram notification working and do not look forward to spend all this time again on it. It is like... at some point it has been enough, even it that would mean to loose that nice domo thing.
Where did you enter the location data? Domoticz settings or the hardware module settings? Which modules?
In the Hardware section, Meteorologisk Institutt and Buienradar have dedicated modules to add.
Sorry about what I said regarding the development, and for sure a lot of work must be done under the hood of Domoticz if you look at the release notes, but as far as other more interface and user related functionality I do not see any difference between versions from years ago and consider some functionality still really clunky. Tried to look at the skins but they run behind as far as I could tell and I would not like to invite trouble when you go for an update.

Update: I have my browsers cleared to give something more than the blue ocean only. Will try to load the database in SQlite.
Which is command line only, so that is not my route to take.
That's it with time, if you just throw enough of it on it, it might get you there at some point.
But I cannot spend it on this... Any other suggestions to edit the .db file?
Another update: ever mind, I messed up in the process and got rid of the original .db and kept the one that I tried to edit to carve out the location data with the text editor. And probably ruining the database in the process. It won't restore or work when I put it in the folder. So I only got a backup of a year ago that I made manually. Which is very very old and with just a fraction of what I have added in the meantime. And a lot of red sensors and switches even though nothing has changed in the hardware (z-wave stick). Tried to restart the NAS many times now. Because the auto backups do NOT work on the Asustor NAS. Even if you can make the settings for it.
So that's it for now, I will leave it as it is, or might just well turn Domoticz off, and pick it up when I have so much time that I do not know what to do with it anyway.
Just mentioning a last warning:
