NETATMO thermostat "away mode" automatization

Greetings,
I am quite new to the whole "home automation" stuff but I went through the forum here and didn't find a clear answer to my problem. So let me first introduce the current state of my things:
Up until recently, I was using IFTTT applet to join Life360 service and Netatmo Thermostat in order to automatically switch on/off the "away mode" for our heating depending on the geo-location of my and my girlfriend's phone. This was the only easy solution for switching the away mode once the last person leaves or the first person arrives at home. However, recently Life360 announced they will discontinue their support for IFTTT service. So it let me wondering how to solve this, yet again.
We both use iOS devices and I was considering buying Raspberry Pi anyway to use it as a PLEX media server and Time Machine back up. So when I found out about Domoticz, I immediately began to explore it too since I already discovered that Netatmo provides APIs...
My questions is then the following: Can I set up the Domoticz on my Raspberry Pi and our iOS devices to watch for our iPhones' locations in order to switch on/off the "away mode" (or "frost guard" when we leave for a longer period of time) automatically? And in case the geo-fencing option would not be possible to set up for multiple users, can we use a trigger based on the iPhones' connection to our home WiFi instead?
Thanks a lot guys for any ideas on this.
